Do you ever get trifling with your hair?

I have a confession. I don't take care of my hair all the time like I should.

  • My hair is lucky if I moisturize one a week, let alone twice a day.
  • I rarely cover it at night.
  • I've been slacking with my rollersets, letting my hair airdry into a bush...then blowdrying with a... *bites lip* comb atachment.
  • I haven't "deep" conditioned in a month. Those lil' two minute shower conditoners don't really cut it for my head.
  • I go out looking any kind of way, usually in a very messy bun or an uncombed ponytail. You would probably give me an LHCF business card, because I sure don't look like I belong to any forum. :lachen:Edges all bushy, stray hairs and cowlick everywhere...I look a Hot *** Mess M-F.
The only thing I have been consistent with is my vitamin regimin. I got back on the ball last week and deep conditioned with Keracare, did a protien treatment(1st one in almost 1 1/2 months), and rollerset. I only look nice for church on Sundays...then it's back to my "trifling" ways. I'm lucky I haven't had any significant damage, but I can't help feeling that if I would put a little more effort into it I'd have made a bit more progress.

So tell me, are YOU trifling, too? And if so, how do you combat the laziness? ( I have some progress pics btw...but Fotki done kicked me to the curb and I need a new picture service. :( )

ETA: Ooops, can a moderator move this to hair, please?

lol...Just wanted to say  Hi Starian. I haven't seen you in awhile.

BTW.. I haven't been triflin with my hair lately, except for weekends, but then again, I can't blame that all on my hair.

No, I'm never trifling w/ my hair. Taking care of it is a lot fun and I love it.

At least, you know what to do for your hair even if you get tired of it, sometimes. There are a lot of people who don't have a clue and their hair is a mess 24/7.

I'm always trifling with my hair. Other than washing it every week, I don't bother with it. I do sleep on a satin pillowcase, but I would go nuts trying to wrap it at night.

Sometimes I'm trifling, hence the reason why I've had setbacks.:ohwell: Laziness is my middle name.

You said it before I could. I went through a 6 month phase of being lazy and I lost what little progress I'd made. Lately I've been on the ball and my hair is looking really healthy and maintaining some length.

Starian, I'm shocked. If I am remembering your siggy correctly you hair was long, thick and fluffy.

I'm trifling with my hair sometimes, but that's usually only when I'm SUPER busy. I don't if it's being trifling or just shifting to a much lower maintenance regimen. I've never been the type to moisturize every single day anyway, but over the past few months, I've been too busy to pamper my hair the way I want to.

I'm planning to do a better job of it this fall though. If I take good care of it, I'll be knocking on waistlength by Christmas.

Still is...when I do something with it. I've had surprisingly little damage, considering. But I'd be further along if I would stop being lazy.

I am just as lazy as you are girl..but the think about it i dont know where to start..all I know about is stretching..no moisture no grease nothing..hair in a pony or push under (if thats even a term). I need some help and I dont know how to get over the laziness.

I AM TRIFLING if I am nearing that tie for a touchup... LIKE RIGHT NOW... I am rocking a shirley temple set, and it has been in for a minute... alll I do is pin it up... I have a bang so I just flat iron that out EVERY MORNING.... damn I am slipping...

BTW, I think I am sluming because I realized next perm I ned to CUT 1-12" inches...

And that's it in a nutshell. I don't have time to do anything anymore, especially since I got my new job. (Well had. That's a different story.) I work 5 days a week, 12:30 to 9:00, with a spattering of overtime thrown in. THe only time I have to properly care for it is on Saturday night, and then it's really late and I have to force myself to rollerset.

I'm putting myelf on a personal challenge to STOP WITH THE HEAT (damned blowdryer), with the exception of my soft bonnet dryer. I started this past Saturday, and by Christmas, I hope I'll see something drastic. (Like BSL, finally. :look: )

I only cover my head at night when I get it blown out. Since I've been rocking wash and gos this summer, this amounts to maybe for a week in three months. I've been slacking on my vitamins, I haven't popped a pill in at least three months. I keep saying I'm going to reup at Puritans Pride, but never do. I haven't done a protein treatment in months. I'm relaxing more frequently than I know I should. I'm so trifling...

I am QUEEN of the push under, :lachen:. At least my ponytail holder is silk....:look:

Starian,
You know that you created this thread just to brag that you do NUTHIN' and still have luscious strands:rolleyes:

I am frequently lazy, but I actually think its working FOR me. I am in that "just past shoulder' danger zone, so I do cover my hair at bedtime and wear it up most of the time. I'm NOT doing the 'extras' like weekly deep cons and such.

you know I thought say thing... I am reading OP, and NICE FULL HEAD OF HAIR @ same time like something seems out of place... LOL...

Yes, but I make sure my hair is presentable for work. Other than that, I treat my hair like a red-headed stepchild:

(1) I don't wrap it after 'alone time' with my SO
(2) I brush it like crazy
(3) I use way too many silicones when I know my hair is going to feel like hay afterwards
(4) I just cut off the last of my hair that was colored and damaged and I'm thinking about getting highlights again
(5) I sometimes go weeks without using conditioner, I'll just use shampoo and call it a day

My mother always says she's shocked that I have any hair and other people comment on how healthy my hair is, lol. I know better and I always say I'm going to grow it out, but then I get lazy as hell.:ohwell:

yeah..I guess you can I'm trifling to an extent. or maybe it's just laziness.

ok check it.

I bought a FHI flat iron back in April--and I have YET to use it!! It's still in the box! I took it out when I got it---plug it in, and that's about as far as I've gotten.
I've gotten too used to bunning my hair everyday, that I really don't want to fool with flat-ironing my hair!! :look:

Most days, I wash, moisturize, and put in a bun to dry. I wear buns or phony ponies erry single day!! I used to wash twice a week--but now I'm back down to one day.

oh--and if it wasn't for my satin pillowcases, my hair would be a hot mess. Because I do forget to wrap it up in my satin scarf most nights....:ohwell:

Maybe I should wash and deep condition my hair tonight.....since I've been slacking lately.:perplexed

Who me? :fallenang :wasntme:

No, seriously though, if anyone took it as bragging, that wasn't my intent, even though I know you know that.

It's just that I'm thinking since I started on my journey in January of 2005 with the chin length cut, I've made progress, but think of how much progress I COULD have made if I hadn't given in the laziness. I grow, trim, grow, trim...I could have been waist length by now if I'd been on the ball 24-7. I guess my "damage" is not retaining growth or if I do, I cut it because my ends look so bad. Well, no more of that.

Then, the pics you see are my best pics. I ain't gon' take a pic of my head during the week, :lachen:. That's freshly rollerset hair right der'.

You are doing more than a lot of people.

Compared to my old regimen the one that I am on now is kind of austere and bland. I have used three new products in the past 6 months (record). I have cut out and simplified my regimen until it is bare bones. As long as you hit the bases, your hair will survive.

Helllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll yeah girl.

I haven't given my hair the tlc it deserves. I've been slacking. :ohwell: Although I'm getting it done on Saturday, I'm going to give it a good shampoo and condition (Aubrey Organics GPB) tonight or tomorrow morning. I can't even think of the last time I used my Aubrey Organics GPB. Damn I'm trifling. I'm also going to smack a little Salerm 21 on my hair afterwards. I don't even remember the last time I used that. Trifling, trifling, trifling. I need to step it up!

Starian! Welcome back! Haven't seen you post in a minute.

Just wanted to say that your hair is slammin!! Definitely an inspiration! :yep: It's so lush and thick!!!

I don't give a monkey's eye anymore when it comes to my hair care regimen. My hair right now is a hot 80's mess. Very oily, greasy, dry and crunchy all at the same time.

I did a twist out but it turned out looking like a hot jerry curl so I've been pony tailing it for two weeks. I don't care. After my slow growth I've just given up hope of ever getting past my damn shoulders. It's been there for the past five years.

Ive been lazy but I still work my regimen into my laziness lol. I just wash,dc,then a wet twisted moisturized bun for a month at a time.....I will slap somebody if they ever say anything about it too....DH included

I've gotten lazy on washing my hair twice a week and drinking 8 glasses of water a day. I'm also sporadic on my vitamins. Now the fotki thing, that's kinda trifling.:D But I shouldn't have the nerve to talk since I haven't uploaded any pictures to my fotki account and I've had the thing for quite some time now. In my defense, I'm waiting until after I flat iron my hair in December to take pictures.

I'm trifling with my hair when I'm depressed or extra, extra tired or crampy. (like now). I'll maybe grease my scalp or moisturize to keep up with appearances (I'm the Har Nazi of my family), but no wrapping, deep conditioning, or anything. I'd much rather just eat and sleep.

Ok. So, I don't feel as trifling about my hair right now.

I shampooed my hair the other night, and I conditioned with Aubrey Organics GPB for 10 to 15 minutes (no heat). I even used my beloved Salerm 21 leave-in afterwards. My hair felt so nice.

I even went to the salon to get my hair done today (roller wrap).

I am downright trifling and lazy. I got to brastrap and lost my mind. I bought a maxiglide and started flat ironing and my hair started breaking. I used to wash and deep conditioned often but I have stopped. I use to wear protective styles and stopped. I am glad you posted this thread. I vow starting today to get my hair back on the right track.

I remember going through a phase like that with my hair. I was so bored with it because it was always the same length and looked the same every day . Maybe you just need to switch things up a bit. I mixed things up with phony-pony's and clip-in extensions, something I never thought I would experiment with.
I luv it :D
