Do You Ever Feel Guilty when...

You give your old products to someone else and you really did not like it because of its ingredients?

For the past year I have been passing down my hair products that I don't use or even like to my sister. I have yet another PJ bag to pass down, but as I was thinking about the product and why I did not like it, the only thing that I could say was that the ingredients in it I didnt want to use on my hair. Some of the stuff that I gave her, like some dominican conditioner even has mineral oil in it. My philosophy now is that she really wasnt doing anything or putting any type of care products on her hair before I started to pass them down so....its probally doing more good than harm....erplexed

What stories do you have about your products that you give away because you dont like it....

no, because what doesn't work on my hair might work on my mom's relaxed hair or my sis who's transitioning. we trade hair stuff back and forth all the time.

besides, sometimes i pass on stuff that i like too, like Sabino.

I wouldn't feel guilty because more than half of the time they wont believe that it is not good for their hair. SO I might as well not waste product and give it to someone who'd appreciate it!

I don't feel bad because a lot of the times the people that I give stuff to had nothing so... ummm... I figured a little mineral oil and stuff won't be as bad as nothing at all which they have...

What Ladylibra said. I know for some people really dislike mineral oil, but there are a A LOT of people who are fine with mineral oil in their products. I wouldn't assume that someone wouldn't like mineral oil in their products.

Dang, yall got ESP or something because I was thinking of doing this to my little cousin. I have a slew of stuff I know I'm not going to use again and was thinking of giving it to her for her little girl. I was feeling kind of guilty too...Some of the stuff has mineral oil in it and some I just don't like it; it didn't work for my hair. But her hair is different from mine a great deal so my old stuff just might set her off. I think I'm going to give it to her, it's just going to collect dust here.

I once gave my cousin a bunch of products I wasn't using. But I didn't feel bad b/c I had just gone natural and some of the products worked better for my relaxed hair, and since she was relaxed I felt she might like them.

In retrospect most of them I probably could have kept using, but I was a new natural and got caught up in wanting to use new stuff just for naturals.

Just pass it on with the info you felt and the warning of what to expect

at least if they get horrible results you told them already

but you never know how anything is gonna work for another

I hear you. I feel somewhat guilty, like, why am I giving to someone else what I do not want for myself, but in most cases, the people that I would give the products away to are not into hair care in the same way as I am, and I tell myself that giving it to someone who will actually use it is better than throwing it away, as I have done in the past .
