I've learned a lot from hair boards and I've gone through quite a few phases along the way. I'm grateful for everything I've learned and all the people who share their experiences. However, at this point, I have pretty much left most things behind.
I don't deep condition or use leave-in conditioners. I don't do protein treatments. I don't "seal with oil". I buy and use cheap shampoos and conditioners, as they work just as well as anything else I've spent too much money on. I use everything diluted. I don't pay attention to ph balance or use the product of the moment. I don't do much of anything to my hair these days.
Like you op I use about 3 leave-ins, 4 if I include JBCO (which I use once my hair starts to dry).
I MUST have a brush for my edges.
I Love heavy oils and do not use them sparingly.
I Love sulfate shampoos (joico of course) and I lather more then once.
MY DC is a mixture of at least 3 products.
I do not DC with heat most of the time.
And I do not DC for more then 5 -10 minutes most of the time.
Me and cones are really good friends, we hang out just about every day!
I LOVE protein, and can't go a week without some protein.
I miss the Vitapointe I use to use at the beginning of my hair journeyI swear before I read up on mineral oil & petroleum/petrolatum, I really thought I had found the PERFECT product for my hair
I threw it away a few months ago just because of what I read about it but NOT how it made my hair feel (which was amazing).....

Last fall, there was a woman in my evening class who would use her teeth to bite off her SSKs and split ends.I break off my SSKs with my fingers. It is a really bad habit and I need to stop.
I'm not afraid to use grease for flatironing. I plan to test it out on my ends this winter.
I clarify with almost every wash.
I DIED LAUGHING AT THIS!!!I wear Celie braids in public and I don't give a **** ... now run and tell dat![]()

But work for you anyway? I came across a thread in which a youtube video was posted, in which this woman was slathering a whole bunch of products on her scalp. The application of the products to the scalp was excessive but the amount of products she used was not...or at least to me
. It's nothing for me to mix 3 or 4 different conditioners together to DC my hair (more if I'm trying to use up products) and the minimal amount of leave-in I apply is 3. I posted the following for my wig reggie:
And I've come to the conclusion that my hair LOVES Vaseline. It even revives my pressed hair and leaves it very soft and manageable. When I pressed my hair last week, it was 2 inches longer than the pic posted in my siggy (I trimmed 1 inch). Apparently this regimen really works to help me retain length. Are there things that you do that are NOT LHCF approved but still help you retain length and keeps your hair healthy such a frequent heat or relaxer use, contraband products, etc?
