Do NOT rip a comb through your hair or someone else's hair

What the heck is a fine toothed comb doing in a natural hair salon? FIRST of all!:whyme:

There's no place for them! And I can't even say for parting bc I know how to get a straight part just using my fingers!
*didn't read whole thread*
but re: the bolded, why wouldn't there be a fine tooth comb in a natural hair salon?
I can think of so many uses.
i use a fine tooth comb on my natural hair all the time for rollersetting. It's essential to smooth out the hair. as long as I'm cone-laden, it just glides straight through. I think using it actually prevents single strand knots-i don't get too many of those.
You can also use it while doing the comb chase method during flatironing, comb coils, legitimately straight parts, etc. etc.
the problem isn't the tool itself, as long as it's used with proper lubrication, :look: it's all good.

I know exactly what you are talking about. My main PS are cornrows that I put in every 2 weeks at my salon. After each parting the braider uses a fine toothed comb to comb through...this is after using heat to straighten my new growth! I have never complained though... Its so bad I am thinking bunning 100% of the time just to save my hair.

excuse my ignorance but can someone explain it to me like I'm a 2 year old.... I understand that combs with seams are bad because the 'sharp' edge damages the seams but - If you have a small section of hair what's wrong with a rat tailed comb. I have always understood that your hair is 'tidy' if you can get the fine tooth comb through. I' mean if you are taking tiny sections of hair to comb what's so bad about that.

For the record I am a 4c/z and I shaved my head several weeks ago after having a 'hot mess' on my head for years and am trying to learn how to care for it properly. Right now I have about half a centimeter of hair on my head and it feels nice running a fine tooth comb through it to tickle my scalp.

OP you've been a member here since 2006 - I just don't understand multiple posts from members who have been here for years that allow things they don't want to their hair. You're at a salon not court. If you allow someone to do something to you that you don't want then its YOUR fault.

I'm just tired of people always blaming stylist when they won't open their mouth when sitting in the chair. I do my own hair but when I'm too tired and go to the Dominican spot I have NO issues telling the local spot do not use that comb - use this one. No I don't want an additional blow out. Yes please use the heat protection serum I just put in your hand. My hair has also grown getting braids because I let them know do not use that comb - use the tail to part otherwise use this one (or making sure they braid the fake hair beyond my hair so its actually protected). Closed mouths produce set backs.
