Hi all,
I've been visiting this board since June of this year and I finally coughed up the dough to become a full member. I literally visit everyday. I have found more helpful information on this website than 1/2 dozen books, tips from stylists, a trip to the dermotologist and over a hundred dollars in wasted beauty supplies.
I only became interested in hair after a horrible visit to the local shop. I already had some breakage in the back of my head from wearing individuals too long, too tight and with too much fake hair stuck to a few hairs on my head. I went to this the local place, and got my hair braided waaaay too tight. When I took them out, I had bald edges, a damn near bald nape and dry hair breaking off left and right. After an uneventful trip to the dermotologist and trying to fix the damage myself through books and talking to different people, i did a search and found this board.
Since that day my hair has been making a 360 degree turn around. The nape is back, my hair is not breaking and the front is about 90% better. Thanks you all so much for your helpful comments and dialogue. I have never been to a place (online or in real life) with sooooo many well put together, intelligent, beautiful, united sisters. I hope that I can put my limited knowledge to good use.
