I was reading 1 Corinthians 6 today and it states "Do not Sue your Brethern".

I had no idea we were not suppose to sue one another. Am I the only one who did not know this? Is the reason many christians do not sue? Are did I read that wrong? and what about child support cases?

I have never had to sue anyone, but have always been a huge believer in law suits. This really changes my view after reading this.

This was a viewpoint that my parents always had but I thought it was personal preference, so this is new to me. But I say in this day and age sometimes you have to sue to get things taken care of properly.

Yeah that was what I thought too.

Y'all are funny....

I don't think child support fits into the context of suing your Christian brother. The Bible says this:

1 Timothy 5:8: "But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

So TECHNICALLY, if one is not of the faith, then they can be sued. Which, Zeal (:lachen:) we Christians are related by blood... the Blood of Jesus!

I just read abou this and a whole bunch of other things this week. I know in my church you should go to the deacons but I have no idea what to do with people from another church. :ohwell: There has to be a state or regional board for Christians that I don't know about.

^^I know right. When I was teenager a small child set our familes house on fire and I for the life or me I did not know why my parents did not press charges. They were extremely religious. Now i know.

The word makes it clear that we are not to resolve our disputes as the world does. A lawsuit is considered and it actually is a 'mark' or stain against one's character and integrity. It's stating that the person being sued could not be trusted to fulfill a promise, debt owed, or is disloyal.

For Christians to sue one another brings and presents a negative view of the persons in the public view; it's on the court records and it really makes the word of God which we profess to be of non-effect. For it also makes the plaintiff appear incapable of resolving issues through the power of prayer and by the life we are to live in Christ Jesus.

Jesus, Himself told us to 'turn the other cheek'.......

However, there are instances which I personally believe when a lawsuit cannot be avoided, such as a crime committed against me or my family/loved ones; if my funds were embezzled by a trustee, if a hospital performed a malpractice.

We just have to be lead of the Lord if a situation arises that needs legal intervention. Christians may not be perfect, however we can't allow someone who may call themselves Christian committ a crime or an offense against us and not allow the law to intervene.
