Did kimmaytube take down her leave in recipe video?

isnt she starting her own product line? that may be why...

Yeah, but she already gave out her recipe for free. Other Youtubers, Bloggers etc have the recipe, so if people don't want to buy it, they can just make it at home.

I have a feeling she will jack the price up on her leave in when her product line comes out.

She has stated that she was going to create a new base to replace the Knot today...so I'm sure she will market it as being more effective than her original recipe when she launches her line

I think she has to reformulate the entire formula. I don't think she can sell it as is.. She needs some preservatives and stuff.

Good point. Or maybe she'd sell it as a kit--kinda like a relaxer! I have to say, I'd probably try it. I know this is not the norm, but I have no desire to mix my own products! I have neither the time nor the patience to experiment on concoctions! Now, if I weren't working full time, didn't have kids, etc... I actually might. I once bought a bunch of stuff to do just that. But then I met my husband, and...(in the alternate reality, he's rich and I don't have to work and THEN I have time to mix Kimmaytube's conditioner and "see if it works" LOL)

I don't see the point in her taking the video down. People have already made hundreds of videos copying the exact recipe, people have it on blogs. Maybe she wants to formulate her own version and absolve herself of any liability or accountability for potential similarities...but that still wouldn't make much sense. :perplexed

I wonder what her new products are gonna look like. Is she just gonna have a leave in or is she gonna have several products (shampoo, deep conditioner, styling gel, moisturizer, etc)?

she took down few videos actually!! the key ones! she did say she is writting a book and also will launch a dvd, and her product line! so i guess she doesn't want people to get info for free now! she is a "brand" now:grin:

Also Kimmaytube has taken down a lot of videos. I've watched her for over a year and a lot of videos that she had about a year ago are now gone.

It always bothered me that she marketed herself by taking someone else's excellent product (Knot Today) and adding a few things to it (like so many mixologist's have for years), but then claimed it as "her leave-in recipe." I guess her disclaimer is that she said "or your favorite conditioner" but most of those did not seem to work as well. But I guess at the same time it makes her brilliant, because it did work...videos all over Youtube and posts all over the net, including here, about "Kimmaytube's Leave-in".

Note to youtubers: You can't take down ANY of your videos with out receiving a lhcf lashing. How silly!

This isn't directed at the OP because I genuinely searched for it a few weeks ago and couldn't find it, but it amazes me at how people expect her to continue "contributing" to KinkyCurly's revenues without her getting any profit. I'm sure their profits went sky high since her posting that initial video. Now that she's making her own products y'all expect her to continue promoting other company's products... No ma'am. That's like McDonalds telling people "oh burger kings french fries are just as good as ours. "

Well, the recipe is on her channel page and she mentioned in
a video that she would no longer be featuring/promoting other
brands of products now that she is developing her own.

My guess is that she took down any videos that showcased
other product brands. That would include the recipe for the
leave-in as it uses Knot Today and other commercial products.

Kimmy didn't purposely market herself that way, her viewers did. Whenever they referred to the mixture it was called kimmy's leave in. Kimmy just shared a recipe that worked for her. She wasn't trying to build a business empire off of knot today. Methods gets attributed to people all the time. Sylver2's scarf method, curlynikki's twist n curl, sareca's oil rinsing, chicoro's sealing method. It doesn't mean they originated the idea, people were doing these methods before them, they just made them popular.

I understand what you're saying, but Kinky Curly, as well as other products, did not hire her to promote their products. Of course their profits went sky high. That's because she promoted them for free on her own discretion. Lots of Youtubers do it.
IMO, there's really nothing to "expect" when you've already posted the recipe for free.

You know, I never really thought about this, but you're right...her viewers called it "Kimmay's Leave-in" not her. Thanks for pointing this out.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't get the impression (from the posts in this thread) that people were extremely upset or mad (or lashings). They are just making a statement about the videos not being there and the possible reasons why. There's nothing silly about making observations.

But then again, maybe this is simply my observation of this thread....

Funny, I was on today looking for her updated hair washing/detangling video to send to a friend and couldn't find it! I thought I was going crazy.
