The natural hair they had while stretching...???

I've wondered about this for a while, if its just enough to tell how your natural hair would be while stretching, I think that if my hair was 100% natural it would be easier to deal with than my natural hair while stretching, maybe because my ends are still texlaxed, im not sure..

I also think I saw Lauren450 say that after the BC her hair was softer.. im not sure if that was her (correct me if im wrong)

Anyone experienced this??

I have not experienced this since I never had to transition.

From what ppl have said on other forums (thoes who transitioned with big chop) they said that the new growth hair b4 choping and the scab hair after, was totally different. From what I have read of their experiences they said that it took about 6 months to really see what type of hair they were workin with. I am sure that's not everyone's experience........

Oh definitely...:yep:

My new growth while relaxed was hard, dry, brittle, very tough. While transistioning, new growth was a lot softer. I used to read the posts about scab hair and didn't believe in it. However, after nine months my new growth now is silky, much different in feel and texture than the unrelaxed hair that is now my ends. I plan on cutting those off on my 1 yr relaxer-free anniversary.

what is scab hair?

I only transitioned for a short amount of time 5 months. However, dealing with my newgrowth with the relaxed part hanging on was horrible. After I cut that relaxed part off it was easy as pie. :yep:

My napps weren't being tangled and knotted. They were free and loose. But, when I had the relaxed part I felt the napps were all matted and knotted. It was horrible.

Yes, before I bc'd my new growth was a nightmare it was incredibly strong and dry and the relaxed bit was a joke. I thought it was 4b. As soon as I chopped the relaxed bit off, my hair was easier to manage (duh lol) softer and was totally a 4a,I had been mistaken. I had soft little coils everywhere whereas when I was dealing with new growth my hair felt like a damn carpet:lachen:

It was at first but then it changed later on. I think the hair I was seeing when I first started stretching was scab hair.

I'm not natural but I did stretch for 6 months to give my scalp a break and in the beginning I noticed that the ng was hard and dry. Even though I've relaxed twice since then, I've switched stylists and this new one makes sure that the relaxer does not touch my scalp. It's really made a difference. My ng has gotten so much softer and feels moisturized since then.

When I was transitioning my hair texture was different then it is now. My true texture did not fully come out until about 6 months after going natural.

My hair was very brittle and unmanageable when I transitioned almost 3 years ago. I thought I was 4a type hair, but found after 3 years of growing out my hair, that I as a 3b type instead. My hairdresser said that my hair was way too thick and brittle, but she doesn't say that now....

Im not sure if I believe in scab hair and all that jazz, but it is different. Its not different because its a different texture but when the weight of relaxed hair was chopped off my silky waves turned into a big kinky mass. Its funny growing your hair for months thinking to yourself while stroking your soft new growth that you got that stereotypical "good hair" just to be blown away when you find out your mother all along was telling the truth about as a child you had nappy nappy hair times two. After cutting, when I stretch my hair out it was soft, silky, and shiny just like when I was transitioning. When I let my tendrils curl back up they look dry, off black, and far from being silky.
