IN GENERAL; hair that is not breaking off, does not have split ends.

I won't say just long hair, because there is short hair that is healthy too. Although hair that is chemically altered can be argued up and down as not being healthy - I feel like if it's not breakin, snappin, poppin' off - then it's healthy! Just my opinion.

Not breaking off
Able to retain moisture
Has a natural sheen or shine
No split ends

ETA: Length is NOT an indication of hair health.

its growing
healthy shine
not breaking
moisturized/soft
i believe some splits are inevitable though..

Great questions!

Healthy hair is hair that has great POROSITY!

So the cuticles are lie flat, which means that the hair has shine and swang. Hair is bomb porosity isn't heat damaged, isn't over processed, hold moisture well.

Moisture/protein can always be fixed. Split ends can be cut. But hair with wack porosity is the WORST, I would know. It just makes you hate your hair.

i think healthy looking hair would look something like this...

newports, kill your siggie. i'm vomiting up lunch over here!!!

Healthy Hair is:

moisturized
strong
elastic
soft to the touch
in one piece from root to tip
growing in at a normal rate

I'm glad you said this! i was getting worried because i protective style 24/7 and STILL get my share of of split ends :cry3:

same here...and my hair is thick, growing and healthy(IMO),

i get knots too which eventually lead to splits cause of my coily hair texture. i can only help minimize them..it just comes w/territory..so splits aren't always a sign of unhealthy hair IMO, of course
