Love the layers. Wonderful growth and retention! So proud of you.

I want to flat iron but I'm on a serious fitness kick and it'd be a waste of time.

I can't wait to do a flatty in the fall. It'll be a year since my unfortunate cut. Hope to be back to WL by then.

**** My regimen is as follows ****
Basically Curly Girl method except that I use cones...I cowash daily with Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle. I rinse and use Tresemme Moisture Rich as my leave-in or KKKT depending upon what I am doing with my hair. I then wet bun on most days. Once a week, I wear it in a ponytail or an EZcomb like it my photo album. I rarely ever just wear it down and curly...too much tangling. Anyway, I digress. I deep condition once a week with Joico Moisture Recovery Balm. I use Giovanni Protein once every 2 weeks for a light protein treatment. I shampoo my hair 1-2x a month, or after each swim in the summer. My hair hates shampoo. About 4x a year, I wear two strand twists for about 5 days using SheaMoisture Curl Smoothie on dry hair. I trim every 12-16 weeks (more like a dusting) and usually flat iron at that time and wear the flatty 7-10 days. To sleep, I wear my hair in 2 "Pokahontas" braids and sleep with my hair in a satin sleep sock.

Any questions, let me know. My regimen is basic: cowash daily, leave full strength condish in, deep condition weekly, light protein 2x a month, shampoo 1-2x a month, protective style 75% or more of the time, dust ends and refresh layers + flatty every 3-4 months. Oh, and I detangle using the Ouidad double detangler comb. My styling aid is Ecostyler clear gel.

@My Friend: I'm not sure what MSM is, but I don't use it and never have. A few years ago, I took Be Beautiful vitamins from GNC but that only lasted about 3 weeks at a time. I just cowash and protective style religiously for good retention. And I trim on a regular basis.

@janeemat: I think my hair grew at the same rate... but I retain MUCH better and my hair is thicken and healthier. Relaxer was thinning my hair, raping my scalp and breaking it off.

@Supergirl: Thank you! I try hard to protect my ends! And I was thinking about letting my layers grow out, but everyone on here likes them so I am rethinking that! :)

@NappyNelle: My stylist does it because it is too hard for me to get the back now. I air dry and blow out before I go. He does the flatty and dusts the ends. I didn't get them dusted this time.

@Garner: My stylist is a man...a white guy actually, who does a lot of black hair and is married to a black woman. He's been my stylist for about 8 years and he is the only one I let touch my hair. He does an excellent job! He dusts my ends and shapes up my layers every 12-16 weeks.
