Hello All!! I am new to LHCF...I love reading all the posts I am trying to absorb all this information..This may be really silly but I have a few questions.

1. what is a CW? What is the benefit? what products to use?
2. ACV rinses is this before or after a conditioning treatment?

Thanks ladies

CW = Conditioner wash.

It's washing your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo. Most shampoos are harsh and drying on the hair, which can lead to breakage and split ends overtime. Most conditioners, when used alone, can effectively clean the scalp and moisturize the hair. Hence, conditioner washings. People usually use inexpensive conditioners such as Suave and V05 to do this, or dilute more expensive (generally thicker) ones.

ACV = Apple cider vinegar

Products build up on the hair strands occurs overtime. In order to "strip" the build up from the hair a clarifying product is used. ACV rinse is one such "products." Baking soda is another. Both products are gentle on the hair if diluted properly. Heavily diluted (with water) apple cider vinegar is usually poured over the hair after washing (the very last step). Some people rinse it out afterwards, some don't. It used to clarified the hair, restore a slightly acid ph balance (which is ideal for the hair), and close the hair cuticles.

So is this the same as using a clarifying shampoo?

Yes, it is. I think people use it and baking soda because they're simple and no chemicals are involved. I've never used a clarifying shampoo.

Thanks MJ how often would one CW??

As often as you like. Some people CW everyday, while others do it once or a few times each week. It's a matter of personal preference and how much manipulation your hair can handle.

ETA:

Here's a recent thread on ACV. Note the different experiences.
