I super need help!!! I'm at a military college in a perdominantly white area. I have NO SALLY stores close, and no one who can do my hair!!! I used to be at bsl, but i cut my hair thinking it would be easier at chin length... lets just say i was VERY WRONG! because we work out every day i have to wash my hair 3-5 days a week. I was basically wondering if there was anything i could do to make sure my hair grows and stays healthy under these conditions. I've been wearing wigs on the weekends and its just SOOO not me. What can i do????!!!

How about braids? When I was in the military, I wore braids most of the time. That way you can wash 3-5 times a week with low manipulation and you won't have any styling time.

Braids would be a good idea. I wouldn't make too many of them because that would take too long. Are you allowed to use any kind of oils for your hair while your there?

I cut my hair short when I was in the military, and I hated it! Especially when you have to wear covers all the time. I started co-washing everyday and putting an alcohol-free gel with a little oil in my hair and slicked it back. I also braided it when it was long enough. I really feel for you sweetie, I've been there. But I think braids will be your best bet.

I wish i could get braids but no one here knows how to braid!! I'm going to go to the crown and glory site and watch her how to braid video, but i'm still very skeptical about adding hair and trying to put on that damn cover!!! Lol. But I do just put on my alcohol free gel slick it back and clip it down all every where... did anyone's hair grow while they were in the military... i was well on my way to passing bsl then i just kept cutting and cutting so i wouldn't be shocked by the short cut i planned on getting for the military... i must have been crazy. Now all i want is to get back to collar bone... atleast!!! Will the c&g method get me some length and strength???

Just being nosey, what school you go to? Im in the Corps at probably one of the whitest school in Texas- A&M, lol.

Im so sorry you felt you had to cut your hair, I always feel like I should and change my mind, Im just learning how to put it up in a non damaging way so I look good in uniform without breakage, etc.

Also I would not use a shampoo that is stripping your hair all those times youre washing, but rather just cowash to retain moisture. Thats what I do when Im working out a lot.As far as the hair cut goes, have you tried just wrapping your hair with a satin scarf at night? That helps keep it in place and keep it protected for me, and when Im out PTing and in uniform, etc, I just put it up. Can you wear a headband in ur physical training uniform, etc? Also, you could use clips so its not all over the place, if looks are what youre worried about...

My hair grew well while I was in the military, dirty, funky and all. I loved it at shoulder length or a little longer. I love to get it braids also, mostly cornrows then bun the hanging hair.
