Curly Pudding/Buttercream = hard hair?

CurlyCrly

To each his own. :)
The cost of these products are too steep for me, but just in case I get a windfall (or a better job), I thought I'd ask these questions. :)

I was reading the instructions on the Curve site for applying the products. I guess it was what they are calling the shingle method. It says to use about a lid full of product. Does anyone use that much? Do these products make your hair hard?

my hair is natural 4/ab I saturday i washed put some curly pudding on shook it and left to a presentation at 4 by 10 i had one inch of dry curly hair but i am trying it again with twist that i put in sunday and will take them down on wed to see what they look like ...I gave some to my cousin who has type 2 I think her hair looks like (chilli or allanda) sp? and hers was soft and so curly I am going to wind up giving her the stuff

kinchen,

Thanks for the response. So, you have several inches of natural hair that shrank up to look like 1 inch? Is it shrunken that much when it's wet?

one lid full is exactly enuff..it says on the jar i believe if u have to use more do so...but u dont...one lid full in the shower will do it...when i used just that amount in the shower it worked perfectly...i cant wait till i can get some more cash to buy some....

Thanks deedabug! :) Did you also use the buttercream or anything else besides the curly pudding? So, the curly pudding dried soft?

yes it dried soft...when i first got it i used up most of it...(i regret that now cuz im broke lol..cant afford another jar) thinkin my rebellious hair needed all that..i was wrong

also someone posted a mth or so back about the shingling method and they said its(curly pudding) not to be deemed a moisturizer....i use castor oil by hollywood beauty which is a grease consistency...so no my hair isnt hard...

also when u r puttin curly pudding on in the shower...pull on ur hair while applying...i used fingers only....

buttercreme...im too broke to afford also lol....i like it for when i want to get my hair to be semi-straight..oddly enuff since its for curls...its good for my ends too..i love the texture...it says on the label of buttercreme to use it as a daily refresher of curls..that aint work for me...as soon as i mess with my hair too much or lay on it the curls r gone...buttercreme wouldnt help me with that all lol

Thanks for the prompt response. I'm thinking that the kinky-curly products may be a less expensive alternative to the curve products. The only problem is it doesn't appear that she can keep up with the orders.

A really good product is called bubble-up pudding, it gives the same effects as the curves products and at a fraction of the cost. You can get a 2lb tub for $10 + 6.00 for shipping at www.hairforsale.com. I ordered mine on a monday and recieved the product ny friday. I used only a little bit, gave some to a friends (3c texture-natural) she loved it so much that I sold it to her, now I have to order my own.:)

Thanks! :)

Does the bubble up leave a visible coating on the hair or something?

From their site.
Chocolate works best on darker hair colors. Vanilla works well with all hair colors. Specifically formulated for blond, silver, white and gray hair.

when it shrank up i did a was and go I put some updates on my fotki i did my first two strand twist with the curly pudding and set under the dryer yesterday and untwisted today in some places the curls were really defined in other places not so much but that is because the back of my hair does not respond I hope the curly pudding works better when my hair gets longer HTH

Yes, the Curly Pudding dries hard on my hair, but the crispiness can be scrunched out after the hair is dry. A lidful of product was just the right amount when my hair was 6" long (my hair is pretty thick too). I got the best results from the Curly Buttercreme by applying it to my hair just prior to fingerstyling with the Curly Pudding. When I tried to use it to refresh my curls the next day, it took the curl definition away. I have since tried Kinky-Curly products and prefer them to the Curve products, simply because the hair dries nice and soft without greasiness, and it reduces shrinkage. :)

not from what I noticed. IT didn't leave any fillm on my hair nor did it make it crunchy...my friend had the same results. It made our hair soft looking and feeling too. as the site states if you have dark hair, then use chocolate.
