Crown and Glory...

I am in and transitioning as well, it's been a year this month. I just revisited the CAG website and put kinky twists in Dec 16th BY MYSELF!!. I kept saying never again, it was torture! I was twisting and pacing for hours on end:perplexed.

Anyway, I hope they hold up for another month, but I am sure I will take them down in two weeks, but I may be able to just refresh the raggedy ones and keep it going to Feb 16th. We'll see, either way I am in. Duration: TBA I will be surprised at myself if I last 1 year with you.

It requires briads in for 2 months and a resting period of 2 months with protective styling. I guess 6 weeks will be fine since 8 weeks is so close to it.

I will probably rest for 3 weeks to a month. I don't have enough protective styles to last 2 months, I'll end up with the maxiglide in hand.

Count me in. This will help me with Health in general. I don't know if I can do 2 years. I first set my goal for 6 months.

Count me in beyondcute I love your album. I am in human hair braids right now. I will be taking out January the 20th then resting for 2-months. On the site there is also pictures of a natural who grew her hair out using the C&G method.

Hi! I'm doing this for the whole of next year so you can count me in officially! I'll be putting braids in the first week in January. I usually get sick of them and take them out around the 4-week mark, only made it to 6 weeks once so leaving them in for 6-8 weeks will be the real challenge for me!
I hope to end up really close to waist-length by the end of 2006 so here goes!

I'm in for at least 6 months. I'm transitioning also and was planning on doing the braided thing for next year.

I hit the 2 week mark for my box braids tomorrow--whew, I hope I can keep these 4 weeks! I'll just keep tying them down and telling myself to keep them in b/c I am doing this for growth!

I will be washing and using a reconstuctor tomorrow.

Check out my album (*first album*) for a few pics of day 7-13....

We'll join you! Myself and my daughters are with you! We will start tomorrow and try to make it the full 2 years. I've got teens and you know how they change their minds but we will try to stay with you!

Hey ladies,

I know a lot of you already have your braids or will be getting them soon---so let's see some pics.

I will be doing mine over soon and want to see how you ladies are doing your braids....(size, stye, etc..)

Also, are all of you going to be washing your hair while in braids?

I'm in for 1 year. I got my box braids (micros) on Dec. 20. I will keep them in for probably 2 months.

I had my braids put in today. My hair is entirely braided into wet n' wavy human hair and the rest is just hanging loose, if you know what I mean. The girl who braided my hair said that I should not wash it because it's going to mess up the braids and get all tangled up. I should have at least had the extensions braided to the ends. What was I thinking? :ohwell:

I'm in!! I'll wear braids for 6-8 weeks. Give my hair a week to breath before a retouch. Get my re-touch. Wait another two three weeks to let my hair breath some more and for a little growth Then, put the braids back in for another 6-8 weeks.

I'm in, I'm trying to grow out my no-lye relaxed hair so I can cut it off and continue with lye relaxers. I got my braids done 2 weeks ago, I'm keeping them for 6 weeks. I'll relax my hair and have it out for about 6 weeks, then relax it again. I'll be doing this for 1 year.

Yay I'm in this one:) I just cut 3 inches off of my hair and planned to slap some kinky twists in anyway AND I was already checking out that Crown and Glory Site. This thread came just in time:) I should be getting them around January 20something...can't wait:D

Count me in too! I had my last braids removed on the 30th of December so I am in my resting period. The C&G really works check me out on the growafrohairlong website "Susan's growth".

wow!!! really impressive progress.
may I please ask you your hair regimen when you are out of braids? and do you take vitamin supplements as well?

Be careful with micros, Ive heard they can tear a hairline up. BUT my sister and my mom have had them with no problems.

Thanks for the advice. Micros don't hurt my sides. However, I did suffer some damage from cornrows. UGGGHHHH.

When I went to the braiding salon I told her I wanted the braids the size of my finger. I kept feeling the braids and I was like "these feel small". She kept saying, don't worry. I do the front and sides small but everything bigger so it looks neater. Well, she did EVERYTHING SMALL. I don't mind though because I love micros, I just HATE taking them out. I know it's going to be hell because I have to remove all the little knots that she put in the end to keep it from unraveling (i'm not cutting because I found one knot in which my real hair was tied in it).

I used to think the same thing, but what I noticed is that it is really about the QUALITY of the hairbraiding. I used to get braids (wet an wavy micros) all the time and once I washed it, then they would look fuzzy. But I got married in July and I had my hair braided. The woman that did my hair took her time with every braid. Well, I was in the Water every day. I washed my hair daily too (to remove chlorine from the pool and sand from the beach). My hair NEVER looked frizzy. I was shocked. That was the first time that my braids didn't get frizzy. So I guess the lady really hooked me up since she knew I was going to get married.

This is a question I have too. Is everyone following C&G method to a tee? I mean using the same products, taking the vitamins and diet?

Hi lolla2005,

Thanks for your comments.
My hair regimen out of braids is simple. I wash and deep condition weekly. Put my hair in a pony during the day and at night put it in two fat braids and put a satin cap over it. Wait a couple of weeks before I put in another set of braids. I do not use heat.
I do not take vitamins instead I try to eat healthly (juicing fruits+vegetables).

Are you relaxed or natural?

I won't be using any of Robin's vitamins, I have my own. I will however use the products she suggested such as the Infusium 23 and African Pride braid spray. I think it's the technique that really counts though.

I'm relaxed. I asked you the question about vitamins because the growth is really impressive!!

I've just started taking MSM (1000mg) and flaxseed oil (1000mg), I think on starting on Biotin as well, but I'll wait for a while and see how MSM and Flaxseed do. I wanted to incorporate Alfalfa as well, but i read on website that it can cause various diseases such as Lupus. better I stay away from it!

good luck to everyone ladies. I know we can reach our desired goals!!
