And I don't mean braid outs or twist outs. I mean Ends completly tuckted, never see the light of day protective?

I don't think I could, I would most likely last 5 months tops, I would run out of buns. Man I could only imagine how :strong: and :dance7: my hair would be If I could though.

I don't think I can go an year. I would need to take at least 2 wks break in between the braids. I am wearing braids now. it has been a lil over a year since I had my hair in braids before this. I am trying to get back use to them. My scalp is sore. she braided it tight even thoug I advise her it was hurting. Also the braids in the back r slipping out. I have dc and wahed my hair. she also used pump it up to hold the individual braids. I hate pump it up spritiz.

It will be a year in February... Ive been in sewins and half wigs, oh and bunned for a week..... Im not used to wearing my hair out......

ETA: Oh, if you mean no length checks, then count me out :look:

Easily - have done before prior to LHCF. Although I would not say it was protective styling. It was more like hide my jacked hair.

Between braids, buns, and wigs, I have gone the whole year with protective styling. I never wear my hair out. December is going to be the first time since October '08 that I have worn my hair out.

I would like to say yes but i get really curious and want to see what my hair is doing underneath. Maybe i should give it a go though!

yep ..

but do you mean protective styling and hiding your length from yourself ? 'cause that would be a no lol

I think I could. I started bunning in July... and I'm still going strong. I've also gotten kinda lazy when it comes to styling my hair. Plus I'm terrified to straighten my hair because I have a fear of losing my curl pattern. Just the thought of my hair against my shirt scares me... I've gotten really paranoid about my ends... Hopefully the paranoia will result in length... we'll see.

I went two years doing mostly protective styling with a few 1 week breaks here and there. My problem is that I like to change my hairstyle too often because it becomes redundant and boring after a while.

Well I'm on a personal mission to Bun for 12 months from Dec 31st 09 to Dec 31st 10 as well as absolutely no heat and no trims for the same period. I'll be getting my trim after the Hide Your Hair Challenge ends on the 15th and will have the following few days to wear my hair out.

I'm determined to get those full 6 inches for 2010 so I know I have to be super strict. I'm hoping for a nice surprise at the end of 2010 after I do the only length check for that year :)

Between half wigs, phony ponies and headwraps, I'm coming up on a year of protective styling next month. Can't wait to see the length I've retained. Stay tuned for December 8th.

I could, BUT, why would I want to? What is the purpose of growing long, beautiful and healthy hair if you have to keep it hidden? The challenge is to find ways to protect your hair while wearing various styles. Now that's the key!

I am surely going to try i am trying to see if i can make it to june with protective styling i hope my growth would be awesom

I never wore my hair out before LHCF. I didn't even know what a protective style was though. I'm just now gettting used to my hair being out.

Hmm, probably not. I keep my hair twisted now, not in twistouts, but I don't keep the ends pinned up religiously. My hair shrinks enough that it's not necessary. I'll start bunning or phony-puffing once my hair's long enough to do so--not yet. But I enjoy playing with my hair some, so I'd likely fail 4-5 months in. That said, I've been in twists almost exclusively since June, and my natural shrunken hair is 1.5 longer than it was in June, so it might be worth it to try :look:.

I definitely plan to try and speed length retention and transitioning this year by bunning constantly. I plan not to wear my hair out for more than 2-3 days each month. A whole year w/ no out days...IDK. Tough, but I like a challenge.

Back in my pre-LHCF days I did this all the time. Individual braids back to back with no down time from age 12 to 22. My hair was thick and long. I had split ends, but that was because I didn't trim, brushed my braids (to tame fuzzies), and never moisturized.

But, I'm planning on basically doing braids back-to-back again this year. I *may* give myself a week break in between to see if it makes a difference, but chance are I won't!

Out of pure laziness I think I could. I wish my bun would last a month at a time. Up until this year my hair has always been down, but now I love to get it out of my way.
