Consequences of overmoisturized hair?

For those who have found their hair to be OVERmoisturized at any point and time, what things did you notice happened to your hair?

I am thinking my hair might be overmoisturized as of today. I read Sistaslick's thread about moisture vs protein, and noticed that when I washed it yesterday, it was really "mushy" feeling. So I did a little protein conditioning with some Lekair Cholesterol.

But I also noticed that I had a little more tangles than usual, which I believed attributed to me losing a bit more hair than normal as well. :ohwell:

Could this have been a result of my hair being overmoisturized? That it would tangle more and/or break off easier??

IMHO It could be a consequence of overmoisturised hair
In my regimen I have added protein:
I use affirm 5n1 reconstructor every other week
I have newly added Aphogee treatment for damaged hair that I will do every two months and a half or every three months:look:

When overmoisturized my hair feels mushy and weak when wet. When dry it breaks easily, but doesn't feel hard or crunchy like protein overload does. HTH

Aaaah - i think this may be my problem.

I am obssessed with moisturising my hair when infact it seems i'm over loading it.

The more it breaks the more moisture i'm adding in.

Though my hair HATES protein and LOVES moisture, I think it's worse when my hair is overmoisturized. Why? For thin/fine hair like mine, having it saturated with products defeats the purpose and actually causes more damage and breakage. Fine-haired ladies need to be conscious of that. Especially for us, we need to be ever mindful of too much product, product build-up or too much moisture. It's very difficult to do, but once you find a nice balance between protein and moisture, but once you find that, your hair will thrive!

BTW, CASTOR OIL has become my best friend. My breakage is under control and seeing the ends have done wonders for my hair at 14 weeks post-relaxer.:yep:

When my hair was overmoisturized I couldn't even THINK about touching it w a comb while wet. At the time I didn't realize the problem, but when I would try to detangle my wet hair it would streeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetch and then *pop* and snap. :nono: Its the stretching before snapping part that let me know what the real problem was.

This sounds almost EXACTLY like what's happening to my hair when I detangle it as of lately. I think I'm going to start back on my protein treatments again.

Thanks for the responses, ladies!

Yeah, I can relate. I had an over moisturizing problem too, from using too much product with the baggy method. I was getting some disturbing breakage from it, and still trying to bounce back.:ohwell: But for the entire month of September, I committed to doing weekly protein treatments and have since noticed an improvement. I've also stopped baggying and just doing daily moisturizing with a cream instead of liquid, and sealing with my castor/jojoba mix. Using less product has been critical for me, but kind of hard to do being natural and having a lot of hair.
