I had been using silicone serums as a protectant from heat and to add some shine to my hair. But I wasn't crazy about the super slick feel to my hair, so I reduced my use. And then I read that silicones can prevent the moisture in the air from penetrating my hair...good for my style, but bad for my hair's moisture levels. So, now I only use them ocassionally. Instead, I use my sweet almond oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil.
The other day after washing my hair, I used vitamin E oil which I use for my skin from time to time. It has the thick, serum-like consistency of silicone, but is great for sealing in moisture. Yet it doesn't block moisture out.
Just thought I'd pass that along...
