I have a few questions. I just started CW'ing this morning YEAYYY
weird.gif
I used the Suave Naturals Milk & Honey and my detangler (Lustrasilk Aloe Detangling - very good product). My questions 4 u guys is this:

1) Do you wash ur hair with the conditioner as you would the shampoo?
2) Do you let the conditioner 'sit' in ur hair for about 5 mins to penetrate or do u just rinse it out?

Basically, i want to know what exactly IS ur CW regimen?

Thanks guys.

1. Yes, you wash your hair with the conditioner just like you would use shampoo, taking care not to create tangles.
2. I wash my hair in the shower so I usually start my hair first, leave the conditioner in, proceed with my shower, and when I'm done rinse it out with cool water.

HTH!

1) Yes, I wash with the conditioner as I would shampoo
2) Yes, I let the conditoner sit with a plastic cap from 5 minutes to 1 hour depending on how much time I have to fool with my hair.

My regemin is: massage scalp and comb out/detangle dry hair. Apply conditioner from roots to ends until hair is saturated. Cover with plastic cap from 5 minutes up to 1 hour. Rinse thoroughly with luke-warm/cool water. Final ACV rinse. Towel dry and apply leave in. Rollerset and hood dry.

Yes and no. I pre-condition for a little while before I start. I let the water do most of the work and let it run through my hair for a long time. Once I apply the conditioner I kinda finger comb it, and work it through the length, like I would shampoo, but I don't let it touch my scalp like it does (as if I'm sudsying the hair). I let the first conditioning application sit on my hair for a little bit before rinsing. If I'm just light conditioning I do it a second time and let it sit longer using my "good" conditioners. If I'm doing something heavier, I deep condition for 20 mins. w/heat before the final rinse.

Me too.

Here's how I do mine.

1. Wet hair, apply conditioner to hair. Concentrating mostly on the ends and work on up to the roots.

2. I put my hair up in a ponytail and put a plastic cap or shower cap over my head, and proceed with my shower duties.

3. Rinse with lukewarm to cool water at the same time I rinse my body off. Sometimes I do a final rinse with ACV.

4. I gently squeeze out the excess water from my hair, apply leave-in, oil, and serum. Afterwards, pull hair back into ponytail to airdry.

I use my Suave conditoners on a daily basis. If I want to keep my hair soft and moist, I do them every day, sometimes every other day.

Should you put your hair in a ponytail immediately after applying all the "goodies" or should you let the hair kinda dry a little before handling it?

@CaramelHonee, I conditioner wash every day (except for when I wear twists, instead I do a daily rinse).

@happyyogi, when I'm finished washing and apply my leave-in and moisturizers and then fingerstyle my hair and let it air dry. At this time my hair isn't long enough to put in a pony tail, but I probably wouldn't do it anyway since it would probably take a lot more time to dry.

I always put mine into a ponytail right away; it will dry straighter at the roots that way.

Do u guys use your good conditioners on a daily basis? how often do u CW per week if u do (or don't)?

[/ QUOTE ]

I CW twice a week with inexpensive conditioners that I add coconut milk, honey and & natural oils (suave, vo5, etc.) I used my "good" conditioners (humectress, kenra, etc.) after I use 'poos. I do not use anything on my hair in between washes other than tiny drops of oil on the ends only.

I CW twice per week (unless I need a good 'poo on one of those days, every 4-5th wash or so). I use good conditioners, and mix my good cheaper conditioners w/some of the salon quality ones. For example on Wednesday I'll do, Nature's Gate Aloe (pre-wash & first rinse), then let Nacidit Avocado sit. On Sat or Sun, I'll use Nature's Gate Original (pre-wash), Humectress (1st rinse) and then let AO GPB sit. Typically if I use Joico K-Pak or Elasta's Breakage Control Serum, I poo & do an ACV before.

Last question.
Is it important to get the excess sweat off ur scalp rite away ... or could i wait until the evening to wash my hair?

I just started doing co-washes too last week. I co-was 3-4 times a week (the days that I exercise). After I exercise, I get in the shower, wet my hair and put Suave Tropical Coconut conditioner all over my hair. Then I wash my body. After Im done washing my body which takes about 5-10 minutes, I rinse out the conditioner out of my hair.

-while in the shower rinse my hair out thoroughly...with warm water
-apply my conditioner, put a palstic cap on...continue to shower
-wash out the conditioner---apply my deep conditioner ( if it is a deep conditioner day) put my showercap on and finish up with my shower...

I do the same thing. My hair dries within an hour or less. That's the only protective style I wear more often.

CaramelHonee, I pay special attention to my scalp by massaging daily in the shower to get the pores open and keep my scalp very clean. I even add conditioner to my scalp and massage deeply. I c/o wash every evening faithfully. The air has so much debris and harmful bactiera that I could not possibly go to sleep without a clean scalp and hair.

Here's what I do:

1. Pre-shampoo with Suave Milk & Honey , Coconut Milk and EVOO (mixed together) and leave on for 30 min-1hr or longer.
2. Condition wash with my favoriteconditioner V05 Straberries & Cream"
3. I Gently owel squeeze and put my hair in my "Turbe Twist" to draw out any excess water so that the leave-in conditioner can hold to my hair better.
3. I hurry to put something on my ends quickly before the air hits it. I add LeKeir's Leave-in condtioner Shea Butter all over hair and add the Profectiv healthy ends to my ends.
4. I put in a bun with a plastic baggie(method junkie). I use this method day and night.

I wash my hair in the shower, so this is what I do:

I put the conditioner on my head and rinse.
Put more conditioner on and let sit
bathe
rinse out with cool water.

I'm glad that this thread was bumped..this is good info...I really like the Dr.'s article :yep:

Glad this thread was bumped up too...I am kinda confused. If a cowash is done several times a week, doesn't it result in mushy hair or lifeless hair that has a lot of buildup? Also, do you guys dry in a ponytail and walk outside with wet/damp hair in the winter? In colder climates like the east coast it seems like it would make you sick. Is that a misconception?

If you have consistently moisture hungry hair, no. And when I was doing it, if my hair seemed to be getting too 'soft', skipping a day set me right back to needing the moisture.

Didn't get buildup because I use/used ONLY cone-free conditioners.

Going outside with wet hair doesn't make you sick, germs make you sick. ;)
If your immune system is already compromised, having cold/wet hair MIGHT make it weaker, but for a normal, healthy person - you'll just have a cold head.

Specifically, what conditioners did you use?

Officially feeling foolish...:perplexed:spinning::lachen:

:hug2: Don't feel foolish girl - those mama-tales will get stuck GOOD into your head til you take a second look at em... ;)

Urm.

*thinks*

V05, Suave Naturals, and White Rain - I double checked each 'type' in a brand, because some have cones, and some don't. I think all of the Suave Naturals are cone-free, but I wouldn't swear on it....
