as i am is definitely my fav one.

even though these are not identified as cleansing conditioners i use them as such because they get the job done and very well i might add:
-purification masque by shea moisture. it has clays in it and really cleans my hair and scalp. no dryness

-wellness conditioner by giovanni. the consistency is like that of a mud (think terressentials) only its a conditioner. the botanicals and menthol really clean your hair and scalp and give it this cool refreshing feeling. i will never go back to a shampoo. not a natural one and not a shampoo bar. i'm only using these 3 things.

I just posted in another thread about Giovanni. I thought the same thing when I used it. Definite cleanser potential. It opened up my sinus with its different but good scent, detangled my hair and tingles so wonderfully.

yes girl! yes. next year i am stepping up my game and just using the wellness conditioner and the purification masque as my cleansers. sticking to a regimen for 6 months to see if my hair can really thrive. i really like the wellness conditioner. i just wish i didn't have to go to whole foods to get it all the time. i look at sistawithrealhair on youtube. she uses it as well. i don't really care about that but the fact that she was able to get a liter sized of the wellness conditioner from her marshalls pissed me off. lol. i wish my marshalls carried that brand. i would buy whatever was in stock.

Curls Creamy Curl Cleanser is my fave, it's one of the only ones I've researched that doesn't contain Amodimethicone or any other cone that isn't water soluble. I can't have that building up on my hair. Plus, I can get it on the ground!

Your making me want to try the liter bottle I bought and have been trying to sell. Maybe I will use it this week

I have been using the DevaCare No Poo and i love it. After i finish the huge bottle i bought i want to try Curl Junkie Daily Fix.

I have used Hair One but after a while my hair feels weird...kinda waxy, if i don't use a shampoo.

How are you putting the cleansers in your hair? I find that i have to use a TON just to get to my scalp.:ohwell:

SmilingElephant I part the wetted hair and put the product directly on the scalp FIRST. Then wet my hair real good, then 'lather'.
____
I use Lisa Rachel ($8-$10 depending where you go). Cleans the hell outta the scalp and hair and I'm a grease user. No residue. For cleansing hardcore stuff out the color treated hair formula works the best. It has protein so you may need to condish after. The curly hair one is good and keeps the hair soft. No need to condish.

Gonna try the dry hair forumla next. :lick:

Will also put some of the suggestions in this thread to use too!

I think the only ones mentioned in this thread with cones are Wen cleansers and the Wen knockoffs. The Curl Junkie, DevaCurl, Ouidad, As I Am, and L'Oreal don't have cones.

I second the cleansing creams. I started using renpure pomegranate. I got it from drugstore.com. It smells so good. I use it especially after henna. (Covers the henna smell) Also grreat as a leave in. I also use hair one olive oil. I get that at Sally's and I have the Liter bottle. I just ordered 613 and tried it. It's nice too but not sure it's worth the hype.

I rinse really really well before plopping it on my head. I really work it in splash some water on and then put some on the length.

I find that you really have to go over every inch of your scalp to make sure it's clean. I clip up out of the way then shower. After I bathe, I rinse it out, plop on some DC.

I love these cleansers because I just started hennaing my hair. My color/thickness are good and I'm happy with the products. So far my fave smell is renpure. My fave overall is hair one olive oil but it doesn't smell as good.

I really like the As I Am Coconut Cowash cleansing creme. I haven't tried anything else, except for TJ TTT and Nourish Spa. I need to look into the Ouidad cleanser.

Actually Ogoma, DevaCurl does have cones, they just use one of the alternate names. Deva Curl also has several other toxic ingredients. This product is a complete lie! I washed once with it and my hair started coming out. It hates cones. I wrote several posts on it.

Here's my post and other info on it. I researched the chemical list in the Deva Curl product.

Lisa Rachel brand doesn't have cones, at least. IDK about the others.

Thanks for letting me know. I had no idea. It was okay for me. It was a little stripping, but I don't think I had any negative effects. Sorry to hear it was such a bad experience for you.

No worries. But they lie to their consumers and say right on the bottle No Silicones. Freakin liars. Not to mention the other poisons some of which are illegal in other countries....but I'll just leave it alone.

I know not everyone reacts the same. But still... knowledge is power.

I am in love with the Ouidad Curl Co-wash right now so I ran to check the ingredients. There are some questionable ingredients at the bottom of the list, but overall I think it looks good:

Aqua (Water/Eau), Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Nigella Sativa Seed Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Fragrance/Parfum, Citric Acid, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Limonene, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone

THAT'S why I swapped it on makeupalley.com now - I completely forgot why since I put it up for swap after using it one time over the summer. I do remember reading something here about the ingredients...

I'm glad someone listens on ocassion greenandchic. IDK what to do with the bottle here.

The chemicals at the bottom of the list are artificial fragrances, industrial degreasers and preservatives. Probably not for sensitive skin, eczema or psoriasis sufferers as they can cause irritation, but that's it.

Better than Deva Curl that's for sure :yep:!

Silk Dreams Whip My Hair is my fave by far
Next is NYC Cleanser (I'll be doing a giveaway of this soon so I'll let you all know)

So it tried the wellness conditioner and it I don't think it is for me. The smell does open you up and I did feel some tingle, but my hair didn't feel clean. I bought a liter, so if no on wants it after my two uses I nay try again.

I can't remember if I had Shea Moisture's Purification Hair Masque on my list?

But I'm adding it now. I really like this one and it gently cleans.

^^ that is some good stuff. i love it. i actually put it in a squeeze bottle because i was tired of scooping it out the jar. off topic my next experiment is with liquid bentonite clay. i want to try using it alone first. then i may mix it with the either the purification masque or the wellness conditioner. wanna try this to see which one i can get a deeper clean/detox with. if it doesn't work i will just go back to using the conditioners alone no additions.

I love As I Am Coconut Cowash. I will have to try Loreal. I gave up on all poo's except the 2 I keep for extreme build up and when I have swam a lot.

Diva_Esq - I love L'oreal. I buy it up everywhere I go because drugstore brands are notorious for bringing out something new and discontinuing it. I was struggling until I started using that (and their curl defining gel). I am looking at others, cause L'oreal keeps going on clearance, making me think it may be getting shelved permanently. Which would be a shame, because it is my little miracle!

Thanks NappyRina

Amodimenthicone--forgot about that one, though my hair doesnt seem to mind and it doesn't leave a build-up.

In any case, for 2013 I've left nearly all commercial products (condish's included) behind for an Ayurvedic/herbal regimen.

i am using Organicals Deep Conditioning Creme. you can use it as a deep conditioner, daily conditoner, in place of shampoo and leave in conditioner. i love this stuff much better than WEN. i got it at ingredientstodiefor.com

i use this one and the Hair Cleansing Creme from the site as well. i finally found my holy grail!!!:drunk:

Personally, I like Miss Jessie's cleansing conditioner and Lisa Rachel. But some of these other products you all have been mentioning have got me curious. May have to try some of these out once I finish up with my other products.

@fatimablush

Glad you mentioned these conditioner bases! I was interested in ordering the sample sizes. I noticed that both the Deep Conditioning Creme & the Cleansing Creme contain Hydrolyzed Quinoa Protein.

Do you find this protein works like other proteins on your hair or do they seem to be more moisturizing?

Also do you use them both to cleanse or use the Cleansing Creme then the Deep Conditioner afterwards?

Thanks
