I remember when I was in San Diego, my hair was traumatized! I didn't even care about hair back then, but :barf: I still remember it.

Thanks for the list...good to know

THANK YOU FOR STARTING THIS THREAD... I had meant to start something similar.

I think in MI we had hard water... let me tell you why... Nailpolish would last about 1-2 days without chipping. My hair never felt super super soft after rinsing conditioner out the first time. It was always hard to get soaps to lather without using a loofah or puff.

Now in GA... the water here is super super soft...all of my soaps lather like crazily.. to the point where I have cut it up in pieces so I don't use too much. I cowashed with the hotel's conditioner ... I was like okay this conditioner is the bomb... no it's not..its the water. My manicure has lasted a FULL WEEK here and just started to chip today.

Now I know this is off on a tangent..but are there certain water standards to worry about? Is MI water "harder" because we have more protective chemicals... Is there a risk when water is "softer"? I'm taking it to mean less chemicals..?? Somebody 'splain to me... :lachen:

I never considered that. Hmmm, water has in the past effected my nail polish at my old house.
I love the water here at the new house. Same city, but it is a new development so I think the water here is just better

As far as the standards, it has something to do with how many pieces(not the correct terminology, but I can't remember right now) there are per gram of water.

I called my city's water treatment plant to find out about our water and allegedly the city water is soft. Like soft to the point where he was like, sales on water softeners here are not used, except to correct issues with pipes that have had buildup for years, even decades.

I washed my hair day before yesterday and just to test out my new water for sure, I used a quarter size of shampoo as oppose to my habitual handful. It lathered so well, I was shocked.

So Houston is basically the only city in teaxas with crappy water? How'd that happen? What are they doing differently in there? LOL

Houston's water isn't great, but I think Phoenix is way worse.

The water there had my skin literally shedding in my clothes. I made the mistake of washing my hair the very first night I got there and it wouldn't even curl.

That's funny Boston is on there. I'm from chicago (hard water) but as soon as I moved to boston my hair started falling out. It didn't stop till I found LHCF & info regarding using bottled water & filters.

Very very intersting. I was always lead to believe NYC had one of the best water in the country... seems I was told wrong

Weird that Forth Worth, TX is number 3 and Dallas, TX is 12 when they are right next to each other. I find that interesting... that water can vary like that. Unless they mean another place in texas thats really called Forth Worth, because I think they have it spelled wrong.. its Fort Worth, Never heard of forth worth

Oh no! I've got to move!
We don't have enough humidity for me to use glycerin and we have horrible water to boot! I'm outta here ASAP!
Ok, we have decent humidity, but still.

I knew our water in Houston was jacked. Thank goodness for water filters.

The water in Memphis is wonnn-derful. (It comes from an artesian well system.) My hair always felt like butter when I washed it in Memphis. I wouldn't even use a filter if I lived there.

Las Vegas was named 2x's?! LOL!That's why I have a shower filter and have drinking water delivered to me. I can't wait to show this to my mother.

Yep. :yep: If we Memphians use a filter then our water is competitive with top brand bottled waters.

How did Arlington, TX land the #1 best spot? They found medications in the water last year I think. Treatment plant couldn't filter the meds I guess. Maybe they upgraded the plant. :look:

Dallas water is ok. I need to try some of that Fort Worth water.

Wow, my city is towards the bottom. It makes sense b/c my skin always seems dry. I need to invest in a good filter. Any recommendations? TIA

Lol...I knew Florida had that bad water :lachen:. Every time northerners come down here they complain of how their teeth are suffering and transluscent. I guess because I'm a native my body has just adapted to all of it, seeing as I haven't experienced any problems. My hair definitely doesn't like the water. Getting a shower filter helped.

I lived in West Plano, TX for three years and that city making the list..:perplexed:nono:

#50...

Its a beautiful place to live.. but the water was always gross (to drink)

I was shocked too! I don't trust this list...I'm a NYer and I take pride in our clean water :coffee:

Agree! I'm surprised Phoenix isn't #1. The water is HORRIBLE!
Lead pipe as a straw = Phoenix water!

Oooh yes! I lived in W. Plano right after I graduated from college. NASTY water.

I think most cities or counties(i guess depending upon population) have their own water filtration plants.

And for you NYC ladies, you're number 13, that's good
