Chopping This Weekend...

Hey everyone

As most of you know I've been transitioning (last relaxer 11/25/03) well I'm tired of it so.....I think I'm just gonna do the Big Chop this weekend!

I start my new job on Monday and I figure this weekend is as good as any time esp. since most of my co-workers have not seen me with hair so I won't get a lot of stupid why'd you cut all your hair off questions...I'll just come in there being the black girl with the short natural

I found someone who works at a salon not far from me who is also a member of Nappturality because I wanted my BC done by someone who works exclusively with natural hair and who was a member of a hairboard that knows something about con-washes and the like.

My hair is now shoulder-length I had it cut into a style last month.

Congratulations on your decision! Sounds like a good time so you can start off with your new do! How many inches of natural hair will you have?

But Kenesha, I thought you wanted long hair for the wedding?

Keep in mind that you'll have pictures from the wedding forever and the big chop may be too grastic. Your decision is very sound, and I love the fact that you're going natural. I just want to make sure you weigh all your options and don't regret the timming.

Thanx JenniferMD for your concern. I did want longer hair for my wedding, but now because of my new job and changing where we're getting married we are going to get married in Sept or Oct...so I figure by then I'll be able to at least get micros or a weave if I still want long hair for my wedding. I just know I cannot transition for 6mths or more I'd be tearing any hair I had out

Congrats on your decision... dont worry you'll have tons of growth by your your wedding. i was looking in a braid magazine and they had a wedding section with nstural styles. i thought they were pretty.

Don't worry Ms. Kenesha, if you don't like the big chop you have enough newgrowth so you can get micros. I think it will look cute. I don't know why, but it seems like you'll pull it off like lil' fish did on Nappturality. Her chop looked soo cute, and her hair looks great now.

I think your fiance might be shocked, but don't worry, he knows that you are more than hair. You probably think he's going to flip, but you might be pleasantly surprised. My husband was very supportive.
