Child hair drama at the salon......I'm crying for the little girl

:look:

I dunno know. A burn is a burn - whether it's done with a cigarette in anger, or with a hairdryer in 'love'.

Thank you! Would you hold your kids hand on a 300 degree burner on the stove to "teach them a lesson?" No? Then why would you hold a child's head under a 300 degree blow dryer so that they can have straight hair?

Its the same thing.

Geez louise. "Lets not go crazy now" Are you kidding? Whats crazy is that somebody out there thinks that its ok to do this to their baby for no other reason than to get the child's hair straight.

This is so sad. I was in the salon a few months ago and a woman had her daughter there. The girl was about 6 years old and she was getting her hair pressed. That poor little girl was SCREAMING! Her mother held her down while the stylist used a hot comb.:nono: I was so disgusted, I just wanted to leave. Shoot, I started aving flashbacks of my mom using the hot comb.

I remember taking my daughters to the doctors and holding them while they were getting shots or blood drawn. This would break my heart to hear them scream and cry. I realize this is medically necessary but I don't think I could put my daughters through excessive styling techniques-all in the name of beauty.

Poor baby. :nono: I remember when my mom took me to beauty school to have my hair pressed for my first communion, this student burned my scalp each time she put the hot comb to my roots, but she was a friend of my mom and I was trying to hard to be a "good girl" and please them both, I managed to stiffle my tears of agony. :nono:

The first and only time I've been to a Dominican hair salon, the woman burned my forehead with the heat from that blowdryer. I would never put a child through that mess.

:look: No..I'm not. I'm not saying its the "right thing to do"..but calling CPS is EXTREME! I would first step up and talk to the mother before calling the po po to take her child away...this is the same mentality that has a first offense drug offender in jail for 20 years....

*sigh* you didnt read my comment.

Go back and read my comment again please. In it you will find the words "I would TELL HER" Meaning I WOULD go to her first and talk to her. I would THREATEN her with CPS.

But to be totally honest a person like that shouldn't even get THAT consideration. They should immediately be taken away. Sorry to burst your bubble. That kind of behavior just gets worse and worse as time goes on. If that mother is so callous to her babies screams and cries that she will let the child's scalp get burned for something like straight hair... what else is she doing to that baby? Your kind of mentality is the sort that hears children being abused and does NOTHING about it until the child is seriously injured/dead.

And also Im sorry, but you CANNOT compare a drug offender to a child abuser. SORRY you just cant. While I do have strong feelings against drug offenders, child abusers are NOT nearly the same.
