I voted Chi, but I've never used the maxiglide. I love the Chi and the SWaNG I have after using it. I think I want to try out that steam burst though...

i voted maxiglide (mp). i think some ppl dont have good results w/ the maxi b/c they have thick/coarse hair & are actually trying to pull the iron thru the hair b/c it has combs inside...i DID NOT DO THIS! i just kinda (lightly) pressed it down the length of my hair a couple of times

if i had tried to pull my hair thru w/ the maxi then im sure a lot of my hair would have come out. the comb inside the iron does not comb thru my hair @ all (too thick). if anyone is having trouble using their iron try pressing it/running it down the length of ur hair- not pulling it thru

hope that made sense & hope it helps somebody...also if u have the iron set too low & u have natural or coarse hair then the iron will likely not give u the best results.

p.s. i have a Chi as well & now i will only use it to curl my hair, not straighten

This is a great tip and works wonders! I voted for the Maxiglide- I have the XP. Remember that you get the flat plate along with the plate with pins so you can interchange them. Thats a great bonus.

I love them both. I use them for different purposes. If I want my hair hella straight, I gotta go with the CHI. But If I feel like having a fuller thicker straight look then I use the Maxglide, dont get me wrong the the Maxiglide gets the hair straight but nothing like the CHI. But I like the steam feature on the Maxiglide. IDK I can't decide. I love them both.

Aye if you go on pricegrabber.com you can get a CHI for $35. I've had 2 CHI's (that i keep having to replace because I dont pay attention and keep accidentally burning the cord on the plates on) that I paid full price over $100. So this last time I looked for a deal and I found them for cheap on price grabber and they are real.

I dont know about a deal on the maxiglide, the SO got it for me for Christmas.

I use the maxiglide with steam. Straightens my hair, but it has a fullness to it. Never in the world has anything been able to straighten my hair, unless it was a pressing comb. I hate the smell of the pressing comb.

I tried the CHI in 2007 and I HATED the results, never again I say, never again.

This was when I was relaxed and my ends came out dry and ate up. My entire head looked a mess.

I want to try the maxiglide one day when i have thicker stronger hair.

I'm not sure how much brand matters more than the technology of the appliance.

I think as long as the plates are ceramic and there is a temperature gauge (esp for natural heads) the appliance will perform as desired. But not let me forget TECHNIQUE is also very important as well.

I have a Ceramic Tools Flat Iron and I bought a Runway....I can't really say my Runway got my hair any straighter than my Ceramic Tools ($30 iron). Both of these irons have a temperature gauge and ceramic plates.

Hey Andreamaria,

I didn't like it because my hair is thick and like someone else had mentioned, it wouldn't even touch the new growth. I couldn't control how close the maxiglide got to my hair. I felt like it wasn't touching my hair. I need a flat iron with heat, a iron that will make my new growth look like I just got a touch up and the Maxi didn't do that. :)

I was thinking about buying one too but it sounds like it won't work on all natural 4b if it can't handle newgrowth.

I vote other I'm loving the Jilbere Nano flat iron I purchased from Sally's it gets my transitioning hair really straight. I have the maxiglide and that really tore my hair up and few years ago I guess cause I would always use the plates that had the teeth. And even with the teeth plates my relaxed hair didn't get as smooth as I wanted. Never have tried a CHI and don't like how they don't have a temperature gauge.
