Well, if you decide to buy the Maxiglide then please PM me and I will sell you mine. I got it a month ago and I love it, but I miss my curls. I was using a curling iron weekly and got the Maxiglide because it is healthier, I love the results, but my hair is chin length in the front, not quite to the shoulder in the back so it looks better curled on a big curling iron, so I'm just going to get a ceramic curling iron and will probably buy a Maxiglide in the future when my hair is longer. I've never tried the Chi so I can't comment on it. The size of the Maxiglide wasn't a problem for me.

Gotcha! Size wasn't a problem for you, so that's a good thing :)

Maxiglide is DEFINATELY better in my opinion, I can now flat iron my hair in only 20 minutes (used to take an hour). The steam burst is to DIE for and it definately gets the new growth despite its bulkiness!! Leaves the hair very soft and silky.

Yes, your maxiglide pics are great - your thread inspired this one  See, it's that 20 minute "glide" you all talk about

Question: What exactly does the steam burst do for the hair? Specifically YOUR hair (cuz e'rebody's hair is different)... I'm not used to working with steam... Help a sista out, cuz I'm  about this. (I hear it's the bomb tho. how so?)

I really like the maxiglide but it's critical that you detangle your hair (especially new growth) because otherwise the teeth will snag and rip hair out. I might try to use my old gold n' hot electric press on roots first and then the maxiglide. I have a sedu, not a chi and it also works well.

Point taken! Thanks :)

I only have the Maxiglide so I can only comment on that one. I love it.
I agree, with the others to make sure your hair doesn't have tangles in it before you use each section. I have pics in my fotki. I use therma silk heat protectant and it works great for me. I have it on no more than the 4 setting.

Your hair is gorgeous!

I bought both. I use the Maxi glide for all-over after my blow dry. ( I have 4b relaxed hair that hits my bra-clasp). It works well for long hair. 15 minutes for me to do my entire head. I bought the CHI on sale from JC Penney. I use it for my new growth and quick touch ups. I like them both!!

Must be nice  Thanks for replying, and congrats on your bundle of joy. You're almost there!

I just got my Maxiglide yesterday and I LOVE IT !! It got my hair bone straight without the steam on setting #1! I'm so glad I tried it. My hair is silky soft and shiney like glass! Pressing and flat ironing never left my hair looking like this, ever!!! The Maxiglide has my vote!

Thanks for posting! I'm glad you enjoy your purchase :yep:

I sent my Maxiglide back. I thought it was horrible! I think my hair type is a 4 something  and it just wasn't for me. :)

Awwwww, sorry to hear that you had to send it back. What about it made it horrible for you?

Hey Andreamaria,

I didn't like it because my hair is thick and like someone else had mentioned, it wouldn't even touch the new growth. I couldn't control how close the maxiglide got to my hair. I felt like it wasn't touching my hair. I need a flat iron with heat, a iron that will make my new growth look like I just got a touch up and the Maxi didn't do that. :)

Thanks for responding Princess4real. I'm understanding that a few others had similar problems as they would have to straighten their newgrowth another way, then maxiglide the rest due to the size of the maxiglide. This is definately something to think about :yep:

Good Luck! If you get it just hold onto to your receipt and the box in case you decide to return it. :)

HEy girlie, sorry for not seeing this until now, as for the steam burst, for my hair it seems to make it more shiny and the moisture is definately there. I remember how dry my hair would be after I flat iron with my other ceramic iron, but my hair hair stays moisturized even when straight now!

This sounds wonderful. Thanks babygurl :yep: Moisture can be a problem for my hair when heat is applied. Sounds like this maxiglide may work for me...

I definitely agree with Babygurl!

I think you should try the Sedu. On Folica many people have complained that the CHI breaks easily. They rated the Sedu as # 1. I have one myself [1 ½"] and it does a great job. Even my friends who I occasionally lend it to have fell it love with it. It is a great flatiron.

I love Maxiglide that I kicked my Chi to the curb. While I was transitioning, I use the Chi and its small size did come in handy for pressing my new growth.

Not that my hair is much longer (between bra strap and waist) I don't have to worry about new growth, so I bought the Maxiglide about a month ago. I LOVE IT!! The steam burst leaves me hair soft and shiny too.

Yall, the first time I used this, it was hot and humid outside and guess what...MY HAIR DID NOT FRIZZ AT ALL! (this was a problem that I had with my Chi). The only thing I changed was my flatiron, so I know it had to be the steam from the Maxiglide.

After that, I was 110% sold on it. My poor Chi is sitting under my sink in its box.

=====================================================

I used mine for the first time and I thought the heat setting was extremly hot:eek:,
My hair was smoking like the old pressing comb days:ban:.... and that was the lowest setting before turning it off.... My 4bbb can't take that sort of heat:cry: ...

MAXIGLIDE ALL THE WAY  ! I love Maxiglide. I just bought it about 3 weeks ago and used it for the first time two weeks ago and I was amazed. I am 12 weeks post and when I flat ironed with Maxiglide, a few of my friends said my hair looked really nice and they thought I had a relaxer. LOL!!! I am currently thinking of going natural. I highly recommend Maxiglide because:
1. you can get close to the scalp
2. use steam bursts to soften hair
3. comes with flat plate/ detangling pins
4. wider flat iron than most, but it gets the job done and I prefer it this way because you cover a wider area rather than the smaller flat irons (1", etc.)
5. straightens the hair, not only flat-ironing

:yay: I am soo happy found my magic pill for my hair. I have to drink to this bad boy:alcoholic ......Maxiglide. Hands down. I just bought and used mines today. I felt like crying when I was done. I my looks like I just got a perm. Stretching for 3 months should be a breeze. I stopped using direct heat for one year...Only used it maybe 4 times. So this is a big change and I wanted to make sure I was doing it right. I paid $59 for mines at bed, bath and beyond. I had a gift certificate for $25.....:)

I've never used the Maxiglide, although I was tempted based on some of the reviews, but my Chi is small enough that it can get really close to my scalp and my hair stays straight for at least 2 wks. My hair is shiny and I've never experienced any shedding, so I'd have to vote for the Chi. On the other hand my hairdresser uses the Chi to put spiral curls in my hair which last for 2 wks as well...

I voted for the CHI. I love this iron and it makes my hair stick straight and soft. I also like that it stays straight even in humidty.

I have them both and prefer the Maxiglide because it straighten my hair better than the Chi love the steam burst.
I will keep my Chi because I can straighten my new growth better with the smaller flat iron.
