Okay ladies - perhaps I'm the only Londoner here????

I need help!!! My hair sits on the lower part of my shoulder blades but I really, really want it to lay on the lower back... :wallbash:

PLEEEEASE Give me some tips or direct me to the relevant pages so i can get it past me shoulder blades...

Thank u :drunk:

Welcome!

You're definitely not the only Londoner on the board so hopefully some of those ladies will chime in.

I would start here:
http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=255441

It has a lot of the basic threads that you'll want to review, especially the newcomer's guide to starting out. Also, the search feature should be your best friend. If you have questions it's best to search them first and get as much information as possible...like if you want to learn more about "cowashing" or "sealing" your ends.

Also, start going back through the pages and read old threads. Lots of times you'll find answers you didn't even know you were looking for.

Don't get too overwhelmed, start slow, and don't go out and buy everything at once. Start with the basics: cleanse, condition, moisturize...and go from there.

Hope this helps!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was not expecting such a response!! THANK U so much to all of you for responding.

Well! 'Cowashing' and 'sealing' ends??????:dazed: What on earth is that????

Hey,

Im from London too and have learnt a lot of great tips (and mishaps) over the years. Find someone's hair that you like and read up on their regimen and adapt it to suit your own.

God bless

Ugh. I'm reading though all of these different links and info abnd it's an absolute mindfield... aaaagggghhh:pullhair:

I think its my regime that needs to change but i aint got a clue where to start.. :help3:

I think once I meet up with people and read how other people started on here I'll find my way - just a bit overwhelemed right now. LOL:ohwell:

ah well :look:

Gal Pickneyyyy! Welcome !!!

Yep, it's a minefield and you may need to try a few things before your are happy with your regime but, you will get there!

Looking forward to seeing you around the board.

Just breathe in and out....

Now, dont worry; it'll all fall into place :drunk:
It all starts with simple changes for BIG improvements.

1. How often to you wash your hair? Every 3-5 days etc? Co-washing a great way to keep your tresses soft and moisturized. It's washing your hair every 2 or 5x a week with conditioner ONLY. It makes you go "huh?!?!?" But washing your hair daily or every other day is healthy! Trust me the ladies here have already de-bunked the myth of black women and daily washing! lol

http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=199575&highlight=daily+washing

It's a lil tricky in the winter and most ppl downgrade daily/co-wash to 2x a week; it's down to the individual in this season! :lachen:

2. How often do you moisturize? e.g. shea butter, olive root stimulator (ORS) olive oil lotion. "Sealing" in the moisture you applied with an oil is recommended, e.g. with castor oil, jojoba oil etc

3. Does your hair need more protein or moisture?

4. Are you experiencing breakage or shedding?

5. Are you protecting your ends from splitting and breaking? e.g. updos, braids, scarves, sew-ins (cared & maintained properly!)

6. Are you natural or relaxed? Most relaxed ladies excouraged "stretching" the time between relaxers in order to get more growth and retain the length they already have:yep:

7. How often do you comb & detangle? Some detangle every week, others 2x a week, again, it's down to the individual and the amount of stress you believe your hair can take! :yep:

8. LOL-->Don't join every bandwagon! Some are excellent challenges...others may be a little out of your budget. Stick to what is comfortable for you and your pocket! :lachen:

9. How often do you apply heat to your hair? Reducing the amount of heat can significantly improve your hair. Many ladies invest in a hooded dryer instead of straightening it everyday!

Thats just a small breakdown.

SistaSlick and some others are GREAT at thorough explanations! Here's one on breakage, shedding, moisturizing etc:

Read and experiment and don't be too shy to send a message or start a thread

Happy Hair Growing!!!

Hey Cherrie Tnt
I live in Herts not strictly a Londoner but pretty close LOL! At first it will all seem overwhelming but soon you'll get the hang of it. Just browse through topics of interest, look at fotkis (online albums documenting the hair journey, regimens, products etc. Ask questions! Good luck and see you around.
