Hello Everyone,
I recently discovered this board and am really impressed with the content. I look forward to learning about more hair products and better ways to care for my hair.

I have heard that you should change your conditioner every few months because your hair gets used to the conditioner and it loses its effectiveness. Is this true? Has anyone experienced a change in their hair after constant conditioner use?

Thanks!

Welcome. I don't change mine around often, btu I have heard that. I'm such a PJ(product junkie) /images/graemlins/smile.gif that I wouldn't really notice if it did.

i have heard of this too several times but i think that if you use a clarifying shampoo from time to time the conditioner still works fine. i think i switch in between 3 shampoos and 3 conditioners and i mainly use these three and never had problems. i clarify about twice or three times a month.

I too have heard this because the hair can become immune to the product. I have also personally used the same conditioner over and over. I think it's more of a preference. If you find something that works stick with it. The thing that I have experienced with any conditioner is that they can build up on the hair. That's where clarifying shampoos comes into play because using them can help your products work better. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've heard this too. I have two conditioners that I alternate, but only because I like them both.

clarifying shampoos and conditoners are used to remove build up of products from your hair and scalp that accumulate there over time. There are alot to choose from, it all depends on your preference. I hear that aubrey organics swimmers shampoo is a good clarifying shampoo. I have tried the neutragena one which was alright.

I rotate between different conditiones because I think different conditioners give different benefits. I do it to maximize the benefits to my hair, not because I think my hair gets to used to a product. Oh, and also because I'm a Product Junkie. /images/graemlins/cool.gif
