Hi ladies! I made the mistake of trying to do some at home highlights and I enlisted my mom to help with this. Unfortunately it did not turn out well so now I'm trying to color my hair back to my natural hair color. I live in a predominantly white/hispanic area and so there's no black hair dye for miles!!! So I was wondering if anyone has ever used Caucasian hair dye and if so, how did that work for u? Have u guys heard of this being done? Please give me your input, good or bad. Thanks girls!!

Didn't know there was a difference

Ditto to what she ^^ said. Most "black" products anyways are made by caucasian companies. Formulas are usually similar if not exact, and putting a brown skin person on the box is just a marketing strategy. Exception: shampoos. "white ppl shampoos" strips the bejesus out of my hair :p

Just my opinion...

when i had color framesi which is italian line was wonderful....no ammonia, primarily natural/veggie based, and low peroxide. the colors were extremely vibrant and didn't fade. its been yrs since i colored and if i did it would use that color and pay my stylist extra for getting it for me. it is not an issue of a product being white or black but more what ingredients they have and how effective they are.

lol @ "bejesus"!!!!!!

Thank u. I did notice while I was reading the ingredients that the "white" hair dye was ammonia free and I know from experience with Dark & Lovely that there is in fact ammonia in their dyes.

Dark and lovely is not a good quality dye.
IMO

We don't have to use special dye or products. Dye is dye. Cheap dye is cheap dye.

I can't see any mentions on my IPhone. PM me if it is a must see. Allons y

I prefer Loreal or Clairol regular hair color. Dark and Lovely made my hair light and ugly and then it fell out! I will never use that stuff again.

I use L'oreal casting creme gloss. Works well for me.

I haven't used dark and lovely or other 'Afro' brands since I was in my late teens. I remember they weren't great. :look:

I want to try this Olia colour that uses oils which I keep seeing adverts on tv for lately. Only if it's semi permanent though.

There is no difference. The only difference is marketing. The theory is the same and the chemicals are the same.

The only concern with "black hair" is that since many women tend to wear relaxers so you have to make sure that you don't go above 20 volume developer. Since it sounds like you are going darker you only need 10 volume.
