Cathy Howse's Hair Growth

Hi everyone,
I'm relatively new to the board and i'm only just starting to learn what i need to do with my hair so i'm definitely no expert! BUT... i've been checking out Cathy's hair growth pictures http://www.ubhpublications.com/HairGrowth.html and i find it hard to believe that it takes 12 years to grow hair this long. I only get about 4 inches per year not the 6 she advertises, and it would take about 4 or 5 years max for my 4a/b hair to get that long. I'll be damned if my hair isn't at classic length 12 years from now... Someone tell me i'm not losing it here...

Hair does have a terminal length. Once the hair reaches a certain point (usually 4-5 years) the hair will fall out (shed) and a new hair will grow in it's place. It's a continuous process, which is why you don't have clumps of hair falling out everyday.

On her website Cathy said it didn't take her that long to grow her hair out. There is a thread called "Look what I found!!!" about a poster named Yvette who said she grew her hair from shoulder to waist length in a year, but wearing her hair in a bun all year. She learned how to retain her length by babying and moisturizing her ends.

I to thought the same, However if you go to her Hair Care tips page under
Sceptics someone ask the same question.

She replyed the pictures are not to illustrate that it took 12 years to grow her hair. But the are to illustrate that when she got to that length she also managed to retain and keep it.
( Her reply is not as polite as this, More like" I am sick of people hating")

I be damned if its gonna take that long to grow my hair!! remember once you get it if you dont look after it or youll loose it.

Hope that clears that up for you

my bad for not reading the whole site... thanks for clearing that up cause i did start to wonder...

also it took years of trial and error to get her regimen right, she had many set-backs because of this... She didn't have access to longhaircareforum.com or other great resources like we currently do, years ago...

Dana,

Your right imagine what some of the people on the LHCF have to go through to to tell us methods that work. Trial and Error, I bet in a few years we we have some donts that we currently do now to warn new members about.
Thats why this site is great, I think Cathy is great but she is just one person saying that something works. But here EVERYONE is co-signing to the same methods which everway you look at it.

And this much people cant be wrong

I love your hair by the way, I only just peeped your album and I must say its INPIRATIONAL- Well Done
