Can we talk Redken?

I don't hear alot about redken here. I know Sareca had a thread talking about it not to long ago but other than that.....*crickets*

What do you like or dislike from Redken.

I recently tried the butter treat, I bought the sample size from Ulta and I loved it. The thing I like about Redken, as a whole, is that they use alot of ceramide in their products which has peeked my interest.

My hair was colored with Redken products. I had great results and no breakage. I would use their products again to color my hair.

I am a little biased but anything is better than Keracare IMO
I think so too :sekret: I started using Redken All Soft and Aveda DR exclusive and my hair hasn't been better. I alternate between the two.

I also found a bottle of Redken Clear Moisture Moist Ends leave in at Filene's. Its probably old, since thats disco...but I use it anyways :yep:

What are you using from the line? I went into ulta and all the stuff that sareca raved about they didn't have in the trial size.

oh, how is this? I so need something for my ends right now.

I have the following Redken products which I think are excellent:

All Soft Heavy Cream
Extreme Rescue Force Fortifying treatment
Smooth Down Butter Treatment

Smooth, moisturized hair with no frizzy ends! They also make my new growth soo soft. A little goes a looong way when using these products.

I've always wanted to try AllSoft but the stylist talked me out of it because he said it is known to fade hair color (something I don't need being dyed black).

I use the Smooth Down Line. The only product I have tried is the Detangling Cream leave-in smoother on my wash and go's. I really like it because it is so creamy. A little goes a long way. I use a very small amount.

For the last week I've only been using only All Soft Conditioner and Anti-Snap leave-in.

3 days out of the week, I wet my ends and length(usually with Eqyss 'cause I have so much of it), band a plastic sandwich bag on it, sit under the dryer for 30 minutes then go to bed. In the morning I rinse the ends, fluff it up, apply anti-snap and go. No oil, no moisturizer, no other products.

It's working beautifully, but my hair likes ceramides. That's why I started using Dom products in the first place.

ETA: The smooth down line is nice too, but I like a little frizz. It makes my hair look bigger and I DO live in Texas. That stuff takes ALL the frizz out. ;)

I bought sample sizes of the all soft shampoo and heavy cream. After my nexxus is done I'll switch to those. It really did make my hair soft. I'm a fan

Redken helped my best friend's hair. Her old beautician recommended it to care for her hair after she let me give her highlights (she really trusted me that day). So for the first bottle she used, Extreme. She did that for a few months. Now she mixes, All Soft and Extreme Conditioners, and uses All Soft Shampoo. Now I mix Extreme Coniditoner with whatever conditioner I am using. My hair likes the Ceremides too.

Sareca- I didn't know Domican products had ceremides. Maybe that's why my hair responds to them so well. Even after using something like Silicon Mix my hair feels stonger.

I bought a sample size of the smooth down heat protectant yesterday. If all goes will I will definitely be looking at the other products.

I once had my hair shampooed and conditioned with Redken Smooth down and blown out with PM Skinny Serum and my hair results were great. My hair was swanging, and shiny. I thought about purchasing the products to try at home but I can never get the same results as the stylist.

Me too! I used it as a leave-in though. I tested it on one side of my head yesterday before blowdrying (on LOW thank you!). It turned out really smooth. It's a really nice consistency. I'd be open to trying more things from Redken. Now if only they could make it more cost effective...LOL.

Thanks for metioning ceramides...I'd never heard of them before so I googled it and found this article http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/do...5463.2001.00106.x?cookieSet=1&journalCode=ics

It mentions how ceramides bind to AA hair and how that correlates to resistance to breakage.

Thanks!:yep:

I absolutely love Redkin products. I have the all soft line, extreme, smooth down and the color line and I really like all of them and how they make my hair feel. I really love the all soft line. That one is my favorite because it makes my hair smooth, controlled, soft and shiny. It is the bomb.

Someone upthread mentioned that they couldn't find sample sizes--if you go to Ulta, they have the whole Redken line with the sample sizes right next to them.

Things I have used from their various lines:

All Soft: Shampoo, Conditioner, Heavy Cream (deep conditioner)
Smooth Down: Shampoo, Butter Treat, Detangling Cream
Extreme: Anti-Snap, Rescue Force

I'm really happy with everything I've tried, and have upgraded to bigger sizes in every thing except the Detangling Cream and the Anti-Snap--but only because I'm still working my way through the sample sizes. When those are gone, I will upgrade. I'm wondering if I need more Rescue Force--I used the whole sample in one go, but my hair felt so great afterwards. Curls was poppin errrwhere! Although, it's protein, and I don't think I need anymore protein treatments. Maybe when I finish something, I will replace it with the Rescue Force.

I like switching up what I use on my hair so it doesn't get used to any one thing. I wonder if that would happen if one were to use Redken exclusively--they have many different lines under their umbrella.

Im glad u started this thread Gym I had been thinking of trying Redken recently but there wasnt much talk of it.
Keep the info comming ladies:grin:

all you had to say was Redken uses ceramides! My precious SoftSheen Breakthru Shampoo has been discontinued and it has a lot of ceramides so maybe Redken can be my new replacement!

Yep, just about anything under the Loreal umbrella has ceramides in it.

I use the Smooth Down Heat Protectant serum and the Anti-Snap. I LOVE it.

Works for me.

I especially like the Anti-Snap because it has made my hair stronger with less breakage.
