Can someone explain to me

How to blow dry my hair properly? I mean I know how to blow dry...but my new growth situation is out of control right now. I cut my hair about a month ago, so now I'm dealing with 4-5weeks of NG on this inverted bob style. Not sexy to say the least.

I don't want to use heat, but I can't carry on this way for another 5 weeks. I'm not good at roller setting. I've been trying to flat iron once a week - still not working.

I air dry 2x a week to avoid blowdrying - but I'm wondering if this is my only solution at this point?

With that said...what are some blowdrying tips to get my hair really straight....like the Dominicans :yep:

**Pebs/Allandra PLEASE dont move me thread to the hair board, I don't know them over there! :nono:

I have a bob and I have 7months worth of new growth. I just press the new growth with a hot comb before I flat iron. Blends both textures but I do make sure my hair is very well conditioned before blowing it out with a blow dryer that has a comb attachment. I just tie it with a scarf at night to make sure that the roots stay flat.

Check her technique in the link below.I don't use the roundbrush or the Chi products I get better results without them.

SR- you can also check out MedMunky's fotki she blow drys her girls hair using a Tourmalene T3 like Ms.S has - she says to dry the ends of the hair first and that prevents the hair from the frizzies:grin: Also Sylver2 shows how she uses the roundbrush on her hair in her fotki - I'd use JLove's instructions for products and take a look at the fotkis I suggested so you can actually see the way it's done (a visual ref if you will)on how you use the round brush - because you aren't supposed to wrap your hair around the brush. You position the hair ontop of the brush and as you blow dry directly on the hair you glide the brush down the hair with the nozzle of the dryer against your hair - hope this makes since (its why I recommend the visuals) Good luck tonight and if it turns out nice - make it a kodak moment and share

JLove your hair is beautiful! Oh my

By any chance do you know your hair type? I'm in the process of transitioning and so any time I run into a natchal I soak up tips :drunk:

7 months!! well I guess I should be able to manage with my little bit of 5 weeks!

So I need to buy a hotcomb and some setting lotion on my lunch break today. Would you believe I have neither in stock at home?:lachen:

Idk how helpful this would be but whenever I blow dry my hair I section into four sections and apply a good leave in conditioner and seal. Then i start by just blow drying on warm and then I use a roundbrush to grab the roots and hold it taut to straighten out my curl. I used to do this when I was transitioning at 5 months post. Then I would flat iron with my Sedu and it would be REALLY straight with a nice bump on the ends. If I can find a picture I'll try and post. Biosilk was also my best friend when I did this method, it really helped with silkiness and shine and it wasn't too greasy. Just don't apply too much.

I never really used setting lotion, mostly because when I did I would overuse and my hair would get stiff. Less is more also, I find. I don't use too much product because I like my hair light and swangin'.

I went back and read through... my only question with patchouli's tutorial (is she a member here?) is how do you blow dry air-dried hair? Won't that spell breakage?
