hey guys

i love to rollerset my hair but i hate blowdrying the roots cause its so hard to part and blow dry each section and I HAVE to blow dry each section if i have a lot of new growth. I find that when i trying to blow dry one section other sections get caught up in it even though i have it clip away to the side... any techniques to help me please?

soomeone told me that flat ironing the roots is more damaging.. what do you think? AND will flat iron have the same straightening affects on the new growth as a blowdryer and a brush?

I found that when I do a ponytail rollerset my roots get so straight that I dont need to blow them straight or flat iron them...I just do the saran wrap thing and Im good to go....and it still looks fine even without the saran wrap if u want to keep the curls. I do 6 to 8 ponytails and put 1-2 rollers on each one. I spray each ouchless band with oil sheen to prevent them from stressing my wet hair.

leslie are u sure? I have ALOT of new growth its thick and fuzzy so will that ponytail method work if i have tons of new growth

lol....yes Im sure...Im texlaxed and Ive only had 3 texlaxes this year! It really pulls the roots straight and they dry like that. I used lacio lacio, chi silk infusion and elasta qp foam setting lotion. Try it and then come back and thank me :lachen:.

Right now my hair is flat ironed and I dont like it bc I miss the body I get from rollersetting. :ohwell: I think its the only the second time I flat ironed it this year!

I cosign.. it really does work. Thanks for reminding me. I was just sitting up here debating on how I was going to get through this tangled mess, but a ponytail rollerset will do me just fine :yep:

okay so u put foam too on ur hair before u dry it.. what does that doo and does it make ur hair hard?

It just gives me a very soft hold and it gives it body and shine. Dont use too much...only about 5 pumps worth. I consider it optional, I only did that the last time or two bc my hair reverts and doesnt hold curl so this helps with that a lot.

yep, u can get the new growth pulled much more taught with the hair elastics than u can on just the roller with the clips.....u cant clip them tightly enough so your new growth doesnt fight it and pull in the other direction lol.

Marcherie has a tutorial on blowdrying the roots. She sprays each root section and gets her round brush and does it. It works wonderfully for me and it may help :)

hmmm Rollersetting in ponytails? Is that basically putting each section in a small elastic and then rollerset my hair?

yes, but not small sections like u do when u are rollersetting. I just part my hair down the middle and do 3 on each side.....positioning them in the center of the square/rectangle. You could probably do 9....3 in the middle and 3 on each side, but I didnt have 9 hair elastics...:look:...lol. I put one or 2 rollers on each ponytail...Im sure the more ponytails and rollers the more curls u will get.

machiereamour tutorial doesnt work for me if i have alot of new growth so i dont use it ........... but when i dont have a lot of new growth works fine..
