I'm 18 weeks post right now so I know how you feel. Try detangling in the shower (carefully) to help the newgrowth lay smoothly. You can try braidouts for a style. I think they really help with keeping the newgrowth smooth and blended with the rest of the hair.

Somedays I just section my hair in 3 parts while rinsing out conditioner and moisturize while its still in the sections to avoid any more tangling until it dries. I hope this helps you out. You can check out that long term stretch thread thats been floating around too. I'll bump it up for you when I see it.

Can't underestimate the braidouts. I have been in them constantly for the last two months or so and they are a lifesaver!

Braidouts and Twistouts - They are not too time consuming and because your hair is curly in these styles, the only time you'll have to worry about your new growth is when you are detangling wet/damp saturated with conditioner :-)

These are some styles I've been doing: http://public.fotki.com/MummysGirl/transition-to-natural/hairdos-while-trans/

What she said. I'm 18 weeks post and twistouts have helped tremendously. Here's the YT tutorial I used to do mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYKugFF04jI

Well i've been stretching for 16wks on regular basis for a year now. I mainly just bun and wear ponytails. I think dcing weekly really helps alone with moisturizing nightly. IDK...

Thank yall sooo much. My hair is just so friggin dry. I'ma do a mild protein treatment, do lots of DCs, and try out some braidouts. THANX! Lemme go find my pics

I love this tutorial, I saw it just once, tried out a twistout and LOVED it! Before this, I was all about braidouts but twistouts are so beautiful.

I think you were the same person who posted the link when I saw it so if I never thanked you - THANK YOU :-)

You were the one who inspired me to do a braidout. I did braidouts until I found the twistout tutorial now I'll never go back to a braidout. THANK YOU and you're welcome.

I just wash and condition my hair in sections. It makes everything so much easier.
btw: I love your signature pic!

Apply moisturizer to your NG like you were applying a relaxer. Make small sections and really get the moisturizer in there. That saved me from SO much breakage.

This is what i did with the conditioner. I'm REALLY going to have to do this with my moisturizer. Thanx for the tip
