I used a lot of oil to do bantu knots last night and I want to color right now. My hair is very oil at the moment. Will that be a problem with the color taking or should I be alright? I am using Clairol Balsalm hair color.

I'm not sure, but I would think the color may not take as well due to the oiliness. Usually when I color (and I love to color!) I make sure and wash my hair the previous day so it is as clean as possible.

Perhaps someone else has more input.

I just colored with Bigen Oriental Black and I had quite a bit of castor oil in my hair. But it's black and I don't see how it could be blacker  Whether it has a future effect on it's staying power I dunno...
But that was black and that's a strong color, I don't know if oil would interfer with other colors.........

lol well I already put the color in since no one responded earlier but I hope it takes. If anything I may color again on the 11th of August when I go to the Aveda salon. I haven't colored my hair in years. I washed my hair last night but put oil on it to dry it and planned on flat ironing it today.
