I am about to color my hair with Clairol beautiful collection. Can it be done on clean but dry hair or should it be done on damp hair?

I'm not positive as I've never used that brand of color, but I would follow the directions on the box/bottle as listed to get the most favorable results.

Most semi-permanent colors I've used require that you wash your hair and apply the color to towel dried, damp tresses. I think it has something to do with raising the hair cuticle so the color can deposit.

Beautiful Collection should be done on damp/wet hair....
Permanent/demi permanent colors should be done on dry hair.
HTH.

Well I used it on clean dry hair and it worked just fine. I think its more important for it to be clean and not necessarily damp.

I don't think the cuticle needs to be raised so the color will deposit. I would think permanent color would need the cuticle raised so the color would penetrate the hair.

Semi permanent color takes better on my dry, product free hair and it lasts forever that way. That's my own personal method.

How do you stop it from coming off on your hands and clothes? I applied some last night (to damp hair). I rinsed it with clear water then co-washed twice. I twisted my hair with condish and shea butter afterwards - now my hands and the tshirt I used to dry my hair are stained:cry:
