Hey Katie, I am staying here in the U.S. I never been to my country I left there about 5 months after I was born. I may go during a summer if my mom and dad want to.

Hey guys..I'm from the Island of Grenada. My parents were both born there and we moved to Canada when I was 2 years old. I've been back a few times...actually this past May I was there for three weeks and my hair was really loving it. My hair wasn't as dry there as it is here. Now with winter among us my hair needs special attention to keep it moisturized.

hi Im Haitian to its nice to know we are represening here
my hair is a little past my bra but my main problem is keeping it moist it is so dry. i starting back taking my vitamins and drinking my water but everyone here has great ideas. I admit i get lazy about.

Born Dominican (French isle) checking in...

Growing up, I've always worn what you guys call French braids but we call "Cangos" Big plaits and cornrows are a common styles. Dominicans can grow hair well, because they just wash it braid it and leave it alone, like most island folks.
A common hairdress is castor oil mixed w/ petroleum jelly...

Trini here living in Queens NY...would you believe that I use to use keraphik when I lived in TT and I paid 1/6 of my weekly pay check for a bottle...Not mixed with East Indian blood though so I do not have that Dougla Trini hair.

I'm Haitian. I must say, it's so nice to see some beautiful West Indies women on this board. My haircare routin is pretty simple. Since I am a natural, I do co. washes every other day and I make sure to take my vitamins, work out, and keep my hair moisturized.
BTW- I just got my first bottle of Surge today. I have officially hopped on the Surge bandwagon.
I was wondering, are there any Haitian ladies on here who live in L.A?

Both of my parents are Jamaican-born, I was born in Canada. My biggest challenge is keeping my hair moist.

i just dont think its in my genetics 2 have long hair

Born and childhood in trinidad...I'd say my hair grows pretty well as long as I don't touch my hair. I'm actually a hair messer addict where I'd constantly color, prune, pull and twist my hair every which way...I think my first crazy act was at 5 when I took my dad's razor blade to my two fat long pony tails..from then on.. there was no holding me back.

This year I discovered wigs (solves my hairstyles/color fetish) and protective hairstyles..plus I went natural. I'd like to see my hair's true health/growth potential under good hair care. As of present, My hair is growing and healthy so I'm a happy girl..I do the vitamins bit. Use Creme of Nature Moisturizing Shampoo/Pantene Smooth & Silky Shampoo & Conditioner, castor oil/jojoba oil to oil my ends at night and wonder max gro lanolian&beeswax. The biggest thing is the daily moisturing and wearing a satin cap(found one that has conditioner in the mesh) so my hair isn't dry any more. note: Still learning.....

Hi everyone!! I'm from Trinidad -- been studying in Miami for the last 5 1/2 years.

And is anyone on the boards who is actually physically in the islands?? How did you find us? and are you locating the products we recommend at home?

i'm in trinidad! i found this site thru a trini living in the US. i havent looked for some of the big products on the board like LUST and Surge. I think once i looked for LUST in pennywise but i didnt see it. I have no idea where they'd put Surge (like what category it'd be in) if they did had it.
I drive past a beauty store in town everyday and I keep wondering if they have all these products i read about on the board. Like Carol's Daughter and such. Someday I'll go check and see.

wow.. it's been 3 years since I have been home

The mention of "Pennywise" triggered an instant flashback of me shopping for Optimum Care shampoo and Jergens skin cream!! My sis went for Christmas though. She has a list just for me... pastelles, calalloo, Shandy Carib, red mango... mmmmmmmmmmm....

Hi! I also live in the West Indies (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) I'm 15 and I'm not exactly sure how long my hair is, but it's close to bra-strap.

I'm from HAITI and I'm so happy you posted this board Sabie. Your hair regime sounds great, so keep up the great work. I really didn't know there was this much West Indian/Caribbean love, let alone Haitian love! This is great! Happy growing everyone!

I was born in Guyana but lived in Canada since I was a baby. I went back once when I was 13 , and I loved it! I would like to go again, but unfortunately it's been a looong time. Still, there's somewhat of a West Indian community here, which is good!

I'm glad to see the West Indian love on this board, too!

My dad is from Antigua and my mom is from St.Thomas V.I.
My sister was born in St.Thomas and my brother and i was born in queens N.Y.
