I'm still a newbie at all of this and I am just now getting to the point where I can have a decent bun with my own hair.

I REALLY need bangs, but I think I have a nice hairline in front so I can kinda deal with my big old face hanging out.

But... the nape! I have this crescent of shorter, less dense, fuzz hair that I think is kind of ugly.

Does anyone know what to do about that? My answer is to make my buns lower, but that really puts my ends in the front at the band.

I'm transitioning and all the hair at my nape and back of my head is natural. And my hair is air dried.

Anyone have suggestions? This is not the best picture, but you can see the crescent of lighter "fuzz" hair there, I think.

Am I supposed to get that shaved off like a man would????

Thanks for any help!

well I like to jazz up my buns because I hate having that hair at the bottom sticking out or just looking wild so these are some of the things I use...

also, I couldn't find it on the website..I think I got them from walmart, or maybe the dollar store..but they have some of those clips that are black, I use those and there are some metallic ones that come in a pack of almost all the colors and I wear those whenever I feel like having my hair match my outfit.

Thanks! I wear a headband to lay down the front. Maybe a cloth headband would be cool and cover up that nape area.

yep they definitely help, a few days ago I wore my hair up in a high bun..like almost the top of my head type high..and my cloth headband kept all the short hair in the back in place.

Yep, that's what I do too. I have to wear the ouchless bands sometimes when I wear my buns to keep the back looking decent.

Get creative with french rolls, flat twists, and updo's. :yep: I'm looking in different places for hair candy. I'm more into protecting my ends now that I did a mini chop.

Here's a double bun using two sock-buns that I learnt of a lady on Youtube!
The last is a normal bun from a tucked under ponytail with a hair accessory from H&M above it! Hair accessories make the bun!

i love the flower in your second pic! I bought one of those yesterday

i have the same thing, i just slick it up w/ some hair gelly or use whateva makes your hair lay flat w/o using the bad gel.

Or even try looser bun styles. I was never a personal fan of the strict bun because my hair it not all one length and I as tired of pulling on the shorter hairs

I do twist out buns which allow for a lot of flexiblity. I can do a french roll or a a lil updo with it and my favorite the southern tease bun

I dress up the buns with various accessories

In 2008 when my hair couldn't hold a bun I would use a donut that I got at Claire's for $2.00 bucks. I'd make a ponytail, slide the donut in and then apply the hair all around it. It gave me a beautiful round bun.

Here's a picture I took November 2008.
