my hair is suffering already and it JUST got cold less than a month ago. im so upset. my hair was doing so well. growing nicely and stayed moisturized becuse i moisturize and seal morning and night. well lately (the past 2 weeks) i noticed that not only is my new growth so rough, even though i keep my hair straight, but my ends are breaking. i know its from the weather change becuase im still deep conditioning constantly and moisturizing and sealing. i dont protective style because i like my hair straight and my hair grows just fine without pony tails and buns. i only wet bun in the summer.

so what should i doo so my hair wont keep breaking?

since you wear it straight, maybe you could wrap it and wear silk/satin scarf under a hat and then just take it off when you get to where you need to go. i used to do that all of the time. also, what type of moisturizer and sealer are you using before you go out?

Use heavier moisturizers and conditioners

(I think you should bun since your ends are suffering :look: )

ITA! I'm been doing ur wet bunning method for the past 3 weeks (with my own alterations added) and it's been doing my ends lovely. The key is to keep you ends moisture or damp some kind of way at all times. Don't forget to seal those ends. U can always go back to your straight hair when it gets a little warmer, but winter is the best time to protect ur ends.

What I do is I keep my hair in a loose bun until I get where I need to go. When I drive to school or work its in a bun and when I take off my coat, I let my hair down. I do a quick bun in between classes at my university and let my bun down when i get to my seat and take my coat off. HTH

i think i know what the problem was, besides the weather. i think it was my flat iron. i have been using the FHI and i love it but i noticed that no matter what leave in i use, after i flat iron i have to moisturize immediatly because my hair would dry out quickly. so last night i flat ironed with my CHI and what a world of difference that made. my hair stayed moisturized before i added more moisture(nourish and shine sealed with cocasta).
also another mistake i made was that i used to seal day and night with cocasta and my hair was thriving. then i decided to start sealing and moisturizing with coconut oil. i think since the coconut oil solidifies it was causing my ends to freeze and break. so i went back to cocasta and my hair feels great right now. im going to wait a week and see if these changes really work.
