I saw the video, goodness 450! it almost looked like the flat iron made her hair turn brown. But i do like that you can keep it for a few months though and wash your hair in between. But i'm wondering also about the reversion, i'm scared my natural hair won't be the same when it comes back, I wish i could find a place to buy that Indian Hair product, maybe i'll have to go buy the Brazilian grocer to find something like it.

Here is a link to some posts about the Brazilian Keratin Treatment. I think that this is somehow different from Tanagra, but I am not sure how. I emailed Tanagra to ask them some q's, but the Florida stylist in the link who uses this makes it sound different from Tanagra, at least in the application. This sounds like what the original poster's friend had done at the Atlanta salon.

http://lamasbeauty.com/talk/salon/messages/12333.html Actually, the whole message board here is filled with talk about this.

There is a place called Brazilian Touch Salon in Hartford, CT that does Brazilian Keratin Treatments. They are located at 1840 Park Street.

The only thing about this product is that on AA hair he suggest that you will need to get a mild relaxer first (wtf) so i guess it defeats the purpose:ohwell:

Hey, application of the product requires the use of heat. One lady said that hair was washed, then blow dried. After natural hair is blowdried, it should be straighter, so why the need for a relaxer/tezturizer? The serum is applied on the blow dried hair, then flat ironed. Just my opinion from reading different posts.

Here's another place that a lady named Fran on another site went to have it done. Spalano Salon in Boca Raton, FL by Frederick Savage. The number is 561-391-8803 and make sure to ask for Frederick or Fred.

Just read a post by a woman who lost her hair after the treatment. Be advised it is not yet approved for use in US. I think it is currently an "underground" product, which may be why the Brazilian stylist in the original post may have wanted to keep it on the low low.

Okay, this has formaldehyde in it. Beware. Tanagra sounds better and better to me now.

I don't know what to think. Another lady had this done and reasoned that even nail poish has formaldehyde in it (true) and that this only has a small amount in it. But, she also says that it cannot be used on virgin hair.

Jason Royce Salon in Woodbury, New York (516-367-8000) does this for $350.

This salon is supposed to be the main salon/US distributor of this product:[email protected] You call them in FL at 561-272-8443 . Thay also have classes on using the product.

Just read a post that this was FDA approved last monthIt contains .05% formaldehyde as a preservative.

My old hair stylist flat ironed my hair so bad that my hair could not return to its original texture. I looked like Don King whenever I washed my hair. Which sent me to this site with the quickness. It's been a little over a year and I am finally getting the texture back in my hair.

This sounds interesting but would love to see some example of 3c,4ab before I make a jump.

Sorry this took so long, Stacey said the guy always washes her hair so she can't attest to how much it reverts, but that if it sweats/gets a little wet it does curl up. I have a few pics, kinda blurry that I took while she was at the house but I don't know how to post them w/out the hastle of photobucket to get a URL. If someone knows how to add pics directly on, let me know. They are in a kodak album, but are jpgs. So I can't click on them to copy. She doesn't know what he used on her hair b/c he has it in a spray bottle that he doesn't leave at his station so the other stylists can know what is in it. I'm not sure if this answers all questions, but if someone sends me a list of the questions I will ask her those. I'll ask her to take a pic, if she can when it's wet or a little sweaty atleast, but I know her, and she's not likely to wash her own hair.

The Brazilian Keratin Treatment site is back up and running. The company making the product is black owned. She really needs to showcase this at some hair shows and make sure she has a U. S. patent. Better yet, get an infomercial!

hersheyskiss, I do not remember a video for the BKT. Now, there is another treatment from Brazil called Tanagra Nanokeratinization that uses a special machine to enable the proteins to penetrate the hair shaft. That one has a video Tanagra Movie

O.K. I just uploaded 2 pics, which took like 30 minutes b/c I didn't know what I was doing. The look huge, I couldn't even see her on the pics, but maybe it won't show up like that for yall.

I have been growing a relaxer for the past year and a half and I know have 99% natural hair. I am interested in the brazilian straightener products you mentioned. I just have one question, does it have chemicals of any kind and is it temporary or permanent? I would like a product that allows me to have more manageable hair without chemicals, damage. I want to give my hair a break from the press-n-curl I normally get. My Hairstylist is good but her methods are causing my hair to thin and break. I just need to find some products that will allow me to manage my own hair naturally. It is thick, past the shoulders 4a type hair. Thanks!

I just had this performed by a stylist named Lori and Mario & Co. in Boca Raton, FL! I had read about her on another forum and decided to try it based on rave reviews. I can not tell you how happy I am that I did it! My hair feels like it just got ironed, except that its much softer, without any additional relaxer or conditioners. I used to have to use alot of leave in conditioner, which caused a buildup on my hair and burned my hair when I had it blown dry at my regular salon in Boca. After the BKT, my hair almost never tangles and it is straight right out of the shower!! I NEVER would have thought this would be possible, especially as thick as my hair is. My hair goes down to my bra strap, and I always had to fight to keep it under control. The treatment is over a weel old, and it hasn't changes one bit. I highly highly recommend having it done, alot of my girlfriends are getting it done cause I guess its the new thing, but it really does work. I have had no bad side effects, though one of girlfriends had it done a couple weeks ago in east Boca, and her scalp had some burning and she did experience a little bit of hair loss. I had no side effects at all.

Go get it done, it really is worth it. I think as time goes on its gonna become more and more popular.

I went to that first website and watched her demo video, it's utterly fascinating! I wonder if any LHCF ladies will have this done anytime soon...

I didn't see a demo video? Do you have link or the website again? I'd like to check it out! Thanks.

Just so you know, the process that seals the keratin in the hair cuticle is done with formaldehyde, as in embalming fluid! I have to go back to my research to make sure the FDA has approved it, though that really don't mean much!!! Like they care as long as they get paid!

So be aware before you get it done exactly all that you will be exposing yourself to. It really seems no different than a lye or no-lye perm, so as long as all of the safety precautions are followed, it should be no less risky :perplexed. But that's why they say the area must be properly ventilated.

It sounds great that the keratin can be put back in the hair. Still, i think that's one reason that i stretch my relaxers, to minimize exposure to chemicals as much as possible. also i love my texture.

HTH! HHG!
