Brastrap Milestone!!!

Got my touchup last night after 12 weeks and whoooo, I'm at BRASTRAP!!! Okay okay, the LONGEST part of my hair in the back is at brastrap and shortest part in front is just past my shoulders - my hair is parted in middle in front. This is the first major milestone in ages and ages and I'm so excited and getting compliments at work, and my DH was like completely floored by my length and thickness when I got home last night. HAH! This really feels good . . .

Now, I simply MUST get bigger magnetic rollers, I'm still using the grey ones, I think they're 2 inches and I want to upgrade to 3 inches my next wash. I've been looking off and on last few weeks, but can't find anywhere (sally's, ulta, BSS, etc.). I've search online and THINK sheldeez has, but hard to tell and I will have to call and confirm but thought I could check with you ladies first. TIA!

Sorry, no pics . . .

:D Congrats!!!

What were your key factors in achieving bsl?

Key factors:

1. NO HEAT. Period.
2. INFREQUENT TRIMS. Actually only DUST every 12 weeks . . .
3. STRETCH RELAXERS to 12 weeks (I use to wait 6 weeks)
4. LESS IS MORE. The more I chill-out and the less I do to my hair, it GROWS - I can now go days where I only spend 2 minutes a day on my hair -- in the pm, rub oil on ends and smooth with hands into bun, no combing no brushing, tie scarf and go to sleep. In the am, undo bun, rub oil on ends and finger comb, no combing, no brushing and go. The only time I really comb is like once a week when I rollerset.

I am doing many other things too, like exclusive use of silk and satin hair scarves, seamless combs, weekly wash and rollersets using good products, taking my time with detangling when new growth is fierce, laid back attitude about the two textures and not trying so hard to make my new growth look sleek 'cause it won't without heat, so I just live with it and have actually learned to like, and not fight it. I'm sure as soon as I post this, I'll think of something else good I'm doing, but these are the KEY factors . . .

BTW, I'm 4b,c,d,e,f . . .

Congrats :) I'm so happy for you!!!! I guess if we just relax and don't stress

Good things do happen :D

Heres to happy Growing!!! and keep up the good work!

Ladies, thanks for the warm words and THANK YOU for all your wonderful advice, recommendations and encouragement, I really couldn't have done it without yall (I'm sounding like someone receiving an award- LOL!) I know a pic is worth a thousand words and perhaps I can get DH to take pics now that he SEES the results of time spent on this board. When I'm online here, he usually rolls his eyes and shakes his head with an underbreath comment "women!" . . .

Congrats!!! What was your starting point, and how long did it take for you to get to BSL?

My starting point was a couple of inches past shoulders back in July 2004 when I eliminated heat entirely and began stretching relaxers to 3 months. I've never actually measured my hair so don't know how many inches in length, but I've RETAINED at least 3 inches or so in the last year and that's why I'm at BSL! I've had very very mininal *dusting* probably no more than an inch taken off during course of that time. . .

I guess this means my hair grows approximately 4 inches a year (3 inches retained, and 1 inch cut during year) which breaks to approximately .3 inches a month, or about 1 inch every 3 months when I touch up. That doesn't seem like a lot . . .

But, yet, I'm at BSL!!!!

Congrats Neroli! I relaxed this past Saturday and to my surprise I'm about a 1/2-inch away from BS!!! I have noticed that my ends are thinning compared to the rest of my hair, so I'm thinking I'll maybe have to trim a 1/2-inch, but I have plenty of time to reach my goal b4 my wedding (March '06)!

Congrat to YOU on both your upcoming marriage and reaching your goal, double whammy, so to speak . . .
