I loved doing my braids... tempting... But I am afraid of what would happen to my relaxed strands.

Very nice. My sister lives in braids, and I have in self-installed senegalese twists now, so I can vouch for the effectiveness of the crown and glory method....but 19 hours?! SHEESH!

Very pretty indeed! And I'm mad you paid way less than I did for the extension hair. :p

I believe in braids too. Just starting my 13th month in them.

Your braids looks really well done! I'm also in braids just not that small though!

Your own hair is very thick I see. I am assuming the first 2 pix are of yr natural hair before you started with the extensions? Just asking:grin:

Dang, your hair is long! those braids are very pretty!

OT: Speaking of long and gorgeous...your hair is so lush Mook. I was all up in your album yesterday and didn't leave a comment because I'm not on fotki anymore but I wanted to not be a dead beat hair oogler and say your hair is gorgeous.

I know a lot of times when our hair gets longer we braid it less, or stop braiding it all together. There are even some ladies who believe that small braids= automatic damage or loss of retention but I have never had that issue. I have always loved small individual braids and with proper care I have found that braids have been nothing but beneficial to my hair. So I decided to put some back in. They are considerably longer than I have braided my hair in the past because I like to braid past my own hair and have room. Here they go & hope you like. It took me about 19 hours of braiding in intervals of free time over the course of 4 days. It cost me 5 bucks for 2 packs of RastAfri kanekalon hair.

My hair straightened/My hair wet before braiding/My finished braids top and back view.

Your hair is gorgeous. I agree with your statements about braids...as long as they are put in correctly; although this has been hit and miss for me. I think I'm different in that as my hair has grown longer I look for more protective styles so that I don't become frustrated and not take the time my hair needs to detangle and care for it. I love braids and senegalese and will be a regular installer once I move to a place where I can get them adaquately refreshed often enough.

OP glad u posted this thread. I broke down last week and had a set of micro's installed. I don't like big braids and hoped doing small ones on my natural hair would not cause too much damage. My braider knows I want to grow my in between SL and APL hair longer so she did not braid tight and left my baby hair out.
