Braiders do you have this problem??

From my personal experience, it seems like as soon as I get braids, I'm dying to wear my hair out. But then once its out, I want the braids again! Does anyone else go through this? I'm tempted to take the cornrows I currently have out, because I want to feel my hair. I'm also paranoid about my hair thinning/breaking or any other negative effect they can have on your hair.

I get like that once I come on the site and see pics of these women with their hair out. It makes me so sad but I pay too much money to jus take them out, so I suck it up and wait but once my hair is out I do wanna put it back in braids.

My hair dresser is very good about taking care of my hair. WHen my braids come out she washes it and givess me a deep conditioner and then trims what needs to go, and now my hair is it the best condition its been in for a very long time.

Girl I am feeling that way right now. I want to flaunt my afro so bad but at the same time it is hard to maintain with school and stuff. Then I think about how long it took me to put them in and how much it would cost to have someone do them and I just suck it up. I am on the braid challenge so I have about 7 more months to go!!!

I feel the same way now. I cannot wait for the period between re-braiding so that I can care for and see how much progress I have made with my real hair.

We are so on the same page. Between school and work, I dont know where hair care would fit in. Thats why I love braids so much! They're virtually maintainence free! This morning I was re-braiding the ponytail part of my cornrows and saw some hair falling out. I had to remind myself that those were just the daily amount of hairs falling out that never did. I just got over a major breakage issue, I dont want to ge through that again.

I'm the same way Mermaid. Once I take my hair down and see how much progress I made, I can't wait to get my hair braided. But then when I see a little bit a new growth with braids I can't wait to see my hair down. It's a viscous cycle.

I was like that last month when I was wearing my cornrows. I was upset because I couldn’t see the condition of my hair. So, to make up for the unknown-- I rinsed my hair everyday in the shower, I sprayed Surge twice everyday, I used Surge Ultra max on my edges, and I spent close to 10 American dollars on some Italian moisturizer. As soon as a month was up I took those bad boys out! Now that my hair is out, I want to get some more braids for the next 3 months. I’m seriously contemplating this and I’ll make my decision soon.

I'm in that same boat. I'm in between braid styles. I plan to relax my hair today (16 weeks post relaxer and two braid styles later). I know I've made quite a bit of progress and I'm anxious to see it. I know that when it's relaxed and I wear it out for a few days I'll want to put it back in braids. I'll have to wait two weeks and give my hair a break and a chance to acquire some new growth.

My only problem is that when I have cornrows I'm always DEATHLY afraid that I'll be edgeless when I take them out so I always have to SURGE SURGE SURGE my edges up!

I know exactly what you mean. I kept my braids in for one month and washed every other day...I was dying to take it out to see how my hair was doing. I took it out and left it in another protective style for one week. Then was right back in braids for 2 weeks.....Took it out to see the progress on my hair left it out for one day...(kid you not). Then placed it in weave for 2 weeks...took it out to check on it. Left it out for 2 weeks, then got a perm, because I wanted to see how long my hair is...And that is were I am right now. I am going to rock the perm for 1 week maybe 2 if I can push it (because I don't want to keep combing) Then I am right back to braids for hopefully this time 2 months....No checking this time.

whew! yes!! that happens to me everytime. ohh how i'm aching to have my natural hair back... just got my micros about 3-4 weeks ago. :c

I am dying to wear my hair out this weekend!!

I have several social events to attend, and I would like nothing more than to wear a blowdried braidout! It would be the perfect style for my outfits. Hhhhh. I will have to work with these braids, though- this is only Week 2.

I'll console myself with thoughts of Monday morning convenience...
