Brahmi Oil???

Hello ladies,

I want to know if any of you have used the OIL not the powder and if so, what is your experience with it? I did kinda go through a few threads but all I really found was use with the powder. Can you ladies chime in for me please? There are a few good reviews on Amazon but I want to hear from my hair sisters so give it to me straight, no chaser!!!! :lachen:

^^^ Ok so should I pick up another oil or something to use along with it? I am new to using Ayurvedic oils etc and I want to slowly get into it. I think I just want to start out using the different oils because all the mixing of different powders and infusing makes me kinda :perplexed Also, what benefits have you experienced with the brahmi oil nightly? Thanks in advance!

I've tried Bazaar of India Brahmi/Alma oil and Bringraj oil for about a month now and I must say I have seen some amazing benefits. I've been tender-headed all my life and after I went natural I still would have a sore scalp just from detangling with a head full of conditioner and a wide tooth comb. I've been massaging it into my scalp 2-3 x's a week for a month now and I must say am no longer tender headed. I guess they really meant business when they said that it strengthens your roots. I also received 3/4 of growth last month but I don't know if this is due to the oil or my regimen. I normally don't measure my growth. I will say 1 thing though, if you occasionally have an itchy scalp, that problem is solved with these oils. And they are excellent for a prepoo. hope that helped a bit.

^^^^ Thanks Tchanelle! That is good to know. When you were applying the oils were you leaving it in or did you have to rinse it out after a little while?

Are you talking about this oil?

I purchased it in the beginning of the year and now apparently its unavailable!! Lol smells funny and havent used it consistently :look:

iheard it darkens your hair :look: or something like that. igot excited about it becuz inoticed alot of long haired beauties on here using and posting it on their fotkis t:grin: until readin it wasnt more so a moisturizer (what ive been looking for) :ohwell:

Hasn't darkened my hair. My hair is softer and I apply it to my scalp every Friday night and leave it in until Saturday when I wash my hair. It does smell though....especially when it's brand new...had me feeling nauseous in my room because of the smell. Great benefits though.

^^^ It does smell something terrible. Lol!!! When I got it and opened it I was like OMG:nono: No bueno! Lol!!! I am really interested in the benefits and how to use it though.

^^The first time I just applied it to my scalp like grease then ran not too much through my hair strands. Then the second time it was during the summer so it melted into oil lol i poured it into a bottle and applied it like I would any other oil. Of course I did a massage afterward.

The smell died down now though. This thing is expensive as heck though!

I know right?!!! I found it for like $17 or $18 on amazon but I kept searching. I googled Vadik Herbs, the company that makes it and it led me to this site www.ayurnaturalbeauty.com/ They have it for 12.49. That is the best price I could find for it. I don't think it is available through Amazon anymore anyway.

I did both. I warmed up a little and massages it into my scalp 2x's a week, and the day before wash days did the same thing except i applied it to the length of my hair as well then say under the steamer. I let it sit in over night and when I shampooed it out it was really easy to massage my scalp.

Actually no. Not sure if the formula is different but the bottles look different. Here is the link to their site. (Note, the ones I received don't look like these either. I think they have new packaging. They were in a different bottle than the ones showed.)

Bazaar of India is the same place I bought my amla oil from. Never tried brahmi oil but I have considered it.

I bought the Brahmi oil pictured and could not take the smell. I had some lemongrass essential oil and put some into the container and stirred. Now, it smells wonderful.

And i read that lemongrass essential oil is very good for hair growth. Who knew!

Quoting the lady in Coming to America, " Go on honey, take a chance!"

You know you want some! Lol!!! :poke:

The Indian grocery did not have this particular Brahmi oil.I purchased some amla but he had no maka or brahmi powder. I also got a dozen vegetable samosa to share with Mumsey :lick:

I have some brahmi powder and I may do an infusion ... after I clear out some of the oils in rotation :look:

I use both Brahmi oil and Amla oil and love them! I get them from my local indian store and pay $4 for each, which lasts me a while. Been slacking on the scalp massages...but I use these oils during deep condition steam treatments, oil rinsing or just applying it to my hair when its dryyyyy. This post reminds me that I need to pick some up tomorrow because I just ran out.

I started using this back in Oct, and I don't know about growth, but it definitely thicken my hair especially at the crown. And it just snuck up on me, I was putting my hair in my usual bun after detangling and I couldn't even use my ponytail holder and had to go buy some new ones. I did notice that when I oiled my scalp with it and left it on overnight my scalp was itching like crazy, and I would leave it on for like 2 days I didn't care that it stunk. So I think it does have growth capabilities but like any other growth aid you have to be consistent. I am making my own oil now, and I still have some of this one left that I need to use up. I stopped using it cuz I was using other stuff, but one thing I learned this year is stick to the stuff that is working and it was so I'm gonna start back using it. I brought some brahmi herbs, and seseame oil and I'm letting it marinade for about month I want to make my own so I can make it more potent.

That sounds like a plan, I may try that except I'll just add some essential oils, couldn't hurt right?

I have been using it and I love it so far. It seems like I am not really shedding anymore and I do get the crawlies on my scalp too. I can definitely tell a difference in my hair already and it has not even been that long. I think this is a keeper. It does smell horrible at first but it goes away after a while. I apply it at night and wash it out in the morning.

I found mine on this site AyurNatural Beauty | Ayurveda | Ayurvedic Products | Ayurvedic Herbs and it is about $6.00 cheaper than on amazon, not that I am trying to be an enabler for an oil junkie or anything! :lachen:

I just purchased it too- I've been using dabur & it has mineral oil. There are a lot of good reviews for the bazaar of india brand on amazon- lets see if its worth the price:rolleyes:.

thanks so much for posting this cuz I was going to purchase this on amazon next week, now I can purchase two of them. Good looking out!

I don't have that brahmi oil, but I love mine! I use it in my ayurvedic treatments and hot oil treatments. It makes my hair soft and shiny, and the herbs in the oil are supposed to help with shedding. I like to think they work...my shedding is pretty minimal.
