Is it bad to diffuse your hair even if your only using the cool setting? I haven't used heat for almost a year in April!!! :yay: I don't want to throw off my progress. Anywho...I was just wondering of it was bad to diffuse with cold air and such...

Thanks ladies!

You mean the cold shot? Just wondering why you would blowdry with that because it will take forever for your hair to dry... if that can even dry it.

But if you mean the low setting, blow drying will still "blow open" the cuticle making it more susceptible to breakage, even on low.

I do mean the cool shot. I know it will take longer but I like the effects of diffusing...will it be bad for your hair?

I honestly don't know. I've never seen someone dry their hair with a cool shot, because button is usually used to cool the hair back down after blow drying and it's supposed to help the cuticle close (that's why they always talk about it giving shine to the hair). Diffusing on low took me forever, so I couldn't imagine my hair even drying with a cool shot.

Hopefully someone has tried it and can help out.

What effects of diffusing are you looking for?

I don't think that cool air would be damaging. I have used the cool shot to diffuse before. I had tie a scarf around the button so that it would stay down w/o me holding it, lol. Diffusing in general takes too long for me and I got impatient with it. I found that sitting under a hooded dryer with my head flipped downwards gives great volume and dries in about 15 minutes. It's a little awkward to sit under there like that but it dries so fast.

I've also used a blow dryer on cool w/o the diffuser attachment and it dries much faster than with the diffuser.

I really don't think diffusing on cool or low heat would be damaging because it's not direct heat IMO. I still wouldn't over do it though.
