I use Everydaymehndi black hair color henna (all natural) and I love it. It gets my hair ddp black and covers the gray strands as well. Couldn't be happier. You can also add more indigo to it if you want to go to blue black. Bonjour.

I think a jet black would look nice. I rinsed mine back to black from a very brassy looking light brown. I like an intense black color on women with our coloring. alot of time very dark brown (natural color for many women of all races)looks washed out or mousy as white ladies call it. Reddish or golden color really brings out the face and features. But an intense black gives depth too.

Looking at your pics again has led to my final decision to do it, I think that black looks great on you

I will be using a henna black haircoloring from Everyday Henna; I'm ordering it in literally a few seconds. I can't wait, now

Thanks Kenesha. Black and shiney can be so sexy. Go for it girl! I know you'll look good with it.

I am in the opinion that it will make you look pale. I have a similar complexion to you and black hair makes me look pale, yellow and sick.

My girlfriend and I talk about this all the time. She is your complexion Ms. K. I love black on her. I think it really looks nice. Plus, black hair always looks healthier and thicker to me. I am thinking about going back to black myself...

Here I go again, I'm getting the urge to dye my hair black again, but now I'm wondering what brand???

So, for all of y'all with dyed black hair what brand is the best. I think I want a level 2 haircolor, but on my lunch hour when I was reading the back of a level 2 haircolor (semi-perm, washes out in about a month) it said if you go darker than your natural color it will not wash out in the month.

Well, Black hair was my enemy for years because I feel it washes me out. Also, because my hair absorbs the color so much and it never leaves. At my last relaxer (note the date in my siggy) I gor a black cellophane (although the hair dresser told me it would be closer to my natural hair color a reddish brown) Let's just say the color is just beginning to fade now. That is 10 weeks today. I don't know how long it is supposed to last, but I'm pretty sure it should have been gone by now. I would say get the Sebastians Colourshines though, it worked for me.

When we gonna see some pics Ms_K...

For a Semi perm I would say Sebastians Coffee Bean...Ive seen this color on women who a slightly darker than me and it looks amazing!!! I like the dramatic look though. I have used Neutral Brown and Brillant Brown both come out looking black on my hair so I think if you have dark brown hair any thing dark will make it go black but I guess its the undertones that make a difference

I prefered Neutral on me because it removed the red from my hair...it was straight black to me but Brilliant leaves the red...I like the look and MS.K I feel insprired now...I might try Coffee Bean myself!!!
Good luck with whatever you choose and definitely! POst PICs girl!!! /images/graemlins/fan.gif you knoow Ill be waiting to see um!!!

Actually that is what the hair dresser put on my hair, the sebastians coffee bean. So if you look at my album you will see the color. The pic from Sept 5th is a week or so after I got the color.

I was thinking about getting a neutral black semi-perm (like Clairol) and then getting a Sebastians Black Orchid rinse, because I want to be all dramatic. /images/graemlins/lachen70.gif

Kaddy, I was just talking to FrizzMizz about my non-having pics self. I need a digi-cam! I am thinking about getting one off of Ebay soon.

I've been toying with the notion of going black myself. I went from T&T cherrywood to cocoa brown, but with ya'll talking about how much healthier black hair looks..... I love black hair though. I really do. I'll probably try bigen if I don't do T&T.

I am the same complexion as you! And honey let me tell ya, black was the bomb on me! Everybody was sooo surprised at the way it looked on me. They all thought I too would look washed out. It made my hair look 2-3 times healthier!<img src="http://st1m.longhaircareforum.com/images/smilies/weird.gif" alt="" /> People swore I was wearing tracks! The only reason I let it grow out was because I got to a point that I though black was never 'black enough'. So, I just decided to let it grow out.

I agree. When I used to wear my hair black it was so shiny and healthy. It didn't wash my complexion out at all.

I've been thinking about T&T, too esp. since I liked the Bronze so much. They have silken black

and natural black

I don't really know what the difference is /images/graemlins/huh.gif

For some reason I don't want to try bigen, I've heard not to great stuff about it I think.

Exactly! I don't know what the diff is. Maybe the silken is more of a bluer black and the natural is more neutral. I prolly need to go with the natural. Hope it covers this brown/red totally. Whatever I decide, I need to do something soon. These greys are getting out of hand!

I think you should go for black hair /images/graemlins/up.gif..........It makes your hair look fuller, brings out your eyes, and it is most always shinier........You would look extra gorgeous with it.

I myself have jet black hair, and I am so unhappy with any other color! Watch out though, black hair dying can be addictive....... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nice hair!!!

I love the color black for hair! I agree that black makes hair look more healthy and shiny! I say go for it and take pics!

I have a black rinse in my hair as I type this. I must admit that this color really does compliment me. I have had streaks, dyed dark brown hair, red/burgandy rinse, black pretty much looks the best. The only down side is, it's hell to get rid of the color.

I always use the darkest black I can find. I use jazzing most of the time. On certain complexions it does create a washed out affect. I think a soft black would look godd w/ your color.

I dyed my hair black once and I hated it. The dye was too dark for my complexion. My natural hair is now turning black and I have been letting it grow in, along with some grays. I love my natural black color, but black dye is just too dark for me.

MsKenesha, I think we are about the same complexion, and I wore my hair black for 5 years straight. My grandmother would always say, "Please wear your natural color, you look like that Elvira", but I just chalked it up to her being too old to know what was hot. Wrong. I look at my old pictures, and I'm like why does my skin look so sallow...it's because that black hair washed me out. Brown-skinned women can pull off black hair very nicely, but I think those of us of a lighter hue should stay far away /images/graemlins/smile.gif. My hair itself was GORGEOUS with the black...it appeared healthier than it was and was so shiny and soft looking, but the fact of the matter is, it just washed my face out. HTH /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif.

I think it depends on your undertones. I have warm undertones and anything other than brown/auburn looks a hot mess on me /images/graemlins/covereyes.gif. But my mom and sisters, have cool undertones and they look great with black hair. I have the same issue with jewelry...if it's not gold or earth toned, forget about it.

Thank you Kaddy!!!!

Dreemsold...I just looked at your album and your hair is gorgeous ..so thick and healthy !!!
is that your natural color in your album? Nice and shiny!!!

I had black hair for 2 weeks last month. I dyed it using Garnie 100% in Jet Black. It did give me a washed-out look and I looked sickly. I stripped the color using One 'n Only ColorFix. I think I just look better with lighter hair.

Your black hair looks cute in your album, you probably needed more time than two weeks to get used to it.

Folks said it would grow on me. It just never did. I know 2 weeks wasn't long, but it felt like it was forever when looking in the mirror all the time.
