Hi Ladies,

This is the product I recently had applied to my hair. The problem is I can't find anything, nada, well, with the exception of one expired Ebay listing, on this product. Does anyone recognize the name/logo? I am interested in knowing if it contained formaldehyde. The label appeared to be crooked as if it was affixed by hand. The back says distributed by Salvatore of New York.

In case you can't read the label, I think it says: Alpha by Salvatore Brazilian Keratin Protein Treatment Pomegrante

If you look here the product looks surprisingly similar. Could it be one in the same? The image of the pomegrante looks the same as well.

Thanks

ljones4521 Why don't you contact the Mai Hair folks and ask them for an ingredient listing? They have a way to reach them on their website. You could also ask if that's the same product.

Why did you apply something you didn't know much about to your hair? What if it's made by some kitchen chemist who doesn't have a clue what they're doing?

I contacted the company (no one answered but they later returned my call from this number: 305-761-2597)

I spoke with the gentleman with a Spanish accent and asked him about the list of ingredients. He asked me why I wanted to know (he wasn't rude though) and how did I find about the product. Anyway, I explained to him that his product was discussed on a hair forum and I wanted more information. He told me he complies with all FDA and OSHA regulations lol and it's 2% formeldahye.

When I did my first treatment it was with Global Keratin and it was 2% I got excellent results. I mean absolutely fabulous. I don't use formeldahyde based treatments anymore but I know a hairdresser that still does and said as long as the place as a source capture ventilation its safe to use.

I think that hair dresser is being irresponsible. There are people like me who are allergic to Formaldehyde. My nails were separating from their nail bed and I had initially thought it was something I was eating but found out through an allergy patch test from my doc that I'm allergic to Formaldehyde. He told me to trash all my nail polishes and if I must use a nail polish to look for those without it in the ingredient. Ventilated room won't help someone like me since Keratin is applied to hair which is part of the body.

Noni,

Actually, I did not apply the product. I went to the salon for a keratin treatment. While there I snapped a picture of the bottle pictured because I wanted to know what it contained. My issue is, I can't find anything about the company pictured. The image on the bottle I snapped looks the same as the link I provided, but can't be sure if they are indeed the same company.

While there I did not smell anything and my eyes did not burn, but when I asked about formaldehyde my son approached me and interrupted our conversation. I forgot to ask after that.
