Hey Ladies? I know that there have been other posts on Bioitin but usually it is not said how much you are taking.

So.... How much are you taking and what are your results? I just started taking it again. I purchased 5 mg.

I started at 1 mg and worked my way up to 7 mg in a bout 6 weeks. My hair feels fuller in the new growth area. It seems to be growing quickly, but it's hard for me to tell because my hair is natural.

i just started taking it about 2 weeks ago so im not 100% sure about my results yet.

I take 5mg.

I've been taking biotin for 4 months now. I worked my way up to ~3.5mg.

Not sure about the results I've been taking other vits as well but my hair does feel like its growing

The first week of taking biotin I broke out around my chin area. But this went a way after the first week. I'm thinking that the breakout may have been due to my taking msm (which I started taking at the same time) and not the biotin but I can't say for sure. However once I upped my water intake the breakouts stopped.:)

I've been taking 10mg a day for the past month now. I take one 5mg biotin capsule in the morning and another one later in the day.

I've just started really tracking my progress this month with my fotki, so i'll see my results in the future... but for now, i've been experiencing a serious breakout on my face (the pimples are more concentrated on my chin, and i have 2 above my lip and 1 on my cheek... sorry if TMI). I just got some more proactive, so i'm hoping it will help lessen the outbreak - at least until my body gets used to the extra biotin in my system.

In other news... since taking all this biotin, my nails are more stronger, thicker, whiter (tips) and they are growing faster.

Me too my nails have always been short an brittle so stronger longer nails has definitely been a nice bonus to taking biotin.:D

I started taking it about a week ago. I'm at 1mg I will work my way up to more later on. No breakouts yet..keeping fingers crossed

I take 900 mcg per day. :) I began taking 300 mcg and then I gradually increased the dosage.:D I immediately noticed the difference in the overall health of my nails-:lachen: No longer splitting, peeling, chipping or breaking! No noticeable irritation of the skin. I have not been taking it long enough to comment on the difference in my hair and I'm on a 10 week stretch.

"The Healthy Black Hair" book by Nicole Smith stated that the RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance) is 300 mcg but 600-1200 mcg is needed.

Mcg-microgram 1000= 1mg
Mg-milligram 1000 = 1gram

i've been taking 2mg for about 5 months now...i tried in the past to go to 3mg, and i did for 2 weeks, but all HELL broke loose on my face! :perplexed everyone suggested i up my water, but i already drink about 4 liters of water a day, so i dunno how much more i should be drinking  i don't take a b-complex, and i'm gonna start taking one on the 10th, with the hopes of upping my biotin to 3mg on june 10 with (hopefully) less of a breakout or no breakouts at all :p

is anybody taking their biotin with a b-complex supplement? did that help ease or prevent biotin breakouts for you?

thats good to know. there was thread out recently similiar to this recently. i take 2500mcg 2x a day. its hard to say how much growth i get with my hair because i use a few things but i notice that i need to touch up my eyebrows quit often. way more than i used to. and also, years ago when i used biotin my hair became thicker and i notice that my hair is thicker now too.

That Biotin stuff was potent. When I used to take it, it made my scalp tingle and my hair was thick. The drawback was that it made my hair thick all over my body. I looked like a mountain man...so I had to stop.

tell the truth and SHAME THE DEVIL! :lachen: i have a trail of hair that starts on my upper chest and goes all the way down through my boobs down to beneath my belly button! definitely NOT sexy, but nothing a lil wax can't handle

10 mg.

No random hair growth on various parts of my body, but def. acne on my face that Ive never had before. Its not severe.... nothing i cant tolerate.

ETA: I forgot to include the Biotin in the 2 Nioxins that I take. So i guess its closer to 15 mg.

I take 10 mg. I only broke out around the chin area when I initially started taking it back in January. I haven't had any facial issues since then.

As far as growth.....hmmm, I'm not sure...my hair never looks like it's growing to me...

I actually have a friend that once told me he thought that was sexy on a woman, though I think he described it as starting under the bra line ... he called it the "happy trail"

For about two weeks I've been taking 10 mg plus my hair vitamin has an additional 2.5 mg in it, so I guess it's really 12.5 mg. I haven't had any breakouts or excess body hair, but I have very little body hair to begin with, so maybe that's why. Except for it does seem like every time I turn around I'm shaving my armpits now LOL. I thought it was my imagination, at first, but I did it at least twice last week, and that is unusual for me. I think that I may just tolerate higher does of medicines/supplements in general though.

I've been taking 5mg. I noticed an increase in my new growth and my nails....I think I recognized my nail growth right away. Not to mention my eyebrows. I can't actually tell how much new growth I have, as I've been wearing Kinky Twists. Anyway, lately, I've been taking 10mg. (one in the morning and then one at night). I haven't experienced breakouts at all. I also take about 3,000mg of MSM.

Maybe someone else can weigh in here, but I've learned that the key to taking Biotin is to take it along with a B-complex, as they should be taken together in order to balance them in the body. This, I believe, will stave off the breakouts. Also, drink lots of water.....or water with lemon added. This has helped me to avoid breakouts as I am the "hormonal break out Queen"!

I take 5mg of Biotin I've been on it for a month, I started off at 1 mg, then 2 mg with a HSN combo, then jumped to the 5mg straight Biotin and I'm taking a B-complex with it everytime. Starting today I'm going up to 6 or 7mg, because I'm going to incorporate the rest of the HSN combo with my pill-popping. My skin actually cleared up and was smooth and glowing after I started taking the HSN, when I went to straight Biotin, pimples popped up, I also got a hair or 2 on my chin that I had to pluck, not too noticable but that freaked me out. I've always had to shave/nair my legs and armpits regularly so that makes me no difference at all. The breakouts have kinda chilled out over the last few days, but I'm still going to incorporate the HSN, not just for more Biotin but more balancing for the skin. I plan on staying on the Biotin for at least the end of the year to really see if it makes a difference, that's six months and then some for it to have kicked in. If I don't see at least 5 more inches this year, I'm not going to see the point in it. I've probably gained 2 already, and the norm for me would be to acheive 4 more by 12/07. I don't see more than that I'll be giving up all aides.

I've been taking 5mg of biotin daily since the end of January or early February. My new growth this stretch has been ridiculous, long and thick. I can't with certainty attribute this increased growth rate to biotin alone since I also use Surge and BT, but I heard it does make the hair grow in thicker, so I guess it's doing its job. I've noticed only a few small, stray pimples since I've been taking the supplements. Actually, lately it seems that my skin has been looking smoother and more radiant :woot:. As for body hair, I've noticed increased hair on my stomach, but nothing a little Nair can't handle ;).

I guess I take about 12.5 mg also. I take Freeda biotin (10mg) and nioxin (2.5). I am considering moving to a different brand of biotin, so I would be interested to know what you other ladies are taking as well.

I take about 7mg -10mg, I noticed that my nails have greatly improved, also increased thickness in my hair.

I'm taking slightly over 3mg daily through my HSN supp. I just picked up a super b & c complex about a week or so ago. I've noticed a slight change in breakouts, but I can't really say if it's the b&c complex or the baking soda I'm now washing my face with. I heard baking soda masks & washes are really supposed to help with breakouts. Especially if you drop a little honey in it for moisture. But I didn't even realize it was the biotin breaking my face out until recently. My skin is usually pretty clear, so it was kinda buggin' me out a lil' bit. So now that I know who the culprit is, I definitely won't be upping my dosage of biotin at all. I don't need a more pimply face or a hairy chest. I do want longer, thicker hair and all...but it's not that serious!:nono: Anyway, my b&c complex directed dosage is only 1 daily. I wonder if I bump it up to 2 if that will help things...

I'll give it a shot.;)

Oh yeah, my results! I've only been taking biotin for a little more than a month. But I've got longer, stonger nails now, which is HIGHLY unusual for me. But the hair growth is hard to tell since I'm in cornrows right now...I'll see in June when I take utd progress pics!

To everyone who is breaking out.. how much water do you drink? Also, I think the breaking out is a sign of your body detoxing.

I just started back on my Biotin yesterday so I will give an update later.
