This stuff is the favorite of Asian people (think Chinese, Korean, etc..), if you want BLACKyou'll get it AND HOW! If you've been around Asians for any time at all, you can spot Bigen from 20 paces in someone's head. It has little relation to hair color that happens in nature...LOL! So if you're going to buy it, go to your local Asian store for best prices. I worry about the high levels of PPD in this stuff tho.
I figure it can be used over henna (there really is no such thing as "BAQ henna"...there's only henna), but if you're gonna try to cover henna, go for the blackest you if you don't want red "bleed" thru.
this is by far the best color rinse out there! I love the oriental jet black color. It is the only rinse that covers my gray completely.
Ahem...ok, so in addition to any allergic reaction you may or may not have as a result of using this stuff, please keep in mind the inconsistencies that have been reported in this thread and others. Some ppl report an inky black that never comes out, others say it faded after two weeks or more. All this to say, the assumption is that this product is a permanent color, but sometimes it's not. The key is the powder developer it comes with in the box. Nowhere does the package state what volume developer is included. (Remember the box says "No ammonia" and "Requires no peroxide"--because it contains an unknown volume of crystallized developer that is activated by water.) So less volume developer creates "demi-permanent" results; more gives more permanent results. So this is something to keep in mind if you plan on using on the same day as a relaxer. Some heads can handle that, but b/c I never know what volume I'm getting with this product, I err on the side of caution and wait 14-21 days post relaxer. (For example, I get more permanent results from Asian BSS Bigen vs. Wal-mart Bigen )

Have you tried dish washing soap? The White chicks who have dye troubles try this w/ some success. Go to www.longhaircommunity.com/forums or www.hennaforhair.com and search what they do to get rid of color saturation.
Wait, so i'm gonna have this charcol color FOREVER, or will this color die down some? I'm gonna have to buy a hat.
Yup because you get the real "sho nuff" stuff from the Asians. IIRC, Bigen is a brand that is specifically made for the East Asian consumer. I assume they adjust the color for non Asian consumption for sell at places like WalMart. Methinks they have a "for the tourist" line. LOL...most White people don't have "oriental black" hair, so they'd need less intense blacks.
This is why I suggested the Asian store for Black folks buying this stuff. They have the "sho nuff" stuff and cheaper.
KPH...it might fade w/ multiple washings OR buying those lightening kits that take out dye, but Bigen is for serious black only. LOL..it doesn't play around. Try multiple washings for a bit and see what happens.
Ok, I did some quick research this morning because I love henna but I really want my dark brown hair back so I wanted to use Bigen to get me back to ground zero before I continue with the henna.
Someone earlier asked if Bigen can be used over henna which was my question.
I checked out www.hennaforhair.com and they said that dye cannot be used over compound henna because it contains metallic salts which will react badly with henna causing a frog green color and just generally trashing your hair. On the other hand we should be using BAQ henna which is bought from reputable suppliers such as Mehandi and that should be no problem with dye because BAQ henna does not contain metallic salts.
I did a strand test already on my swatch of hair that I used to test out my henna on .
I mixed up a tsp. of Bigen and applied it to my henna'd strands and the next day I had back the nice dark brown color and the strands seemed strong. So I will now thoroughly wash my hair with some type of clarifying shampoo and then do my Bigen being careful to deep condition often before my next henna and indigo.
