Best Hood Dryer?

I've seen the Ionic Hood dryer for $43 at sally's. I'm looking to get one. Should I get that one? I have to see how many heat settings it has.
How many heat settings does yours have?
What's the worst one you ever had? Broke soon? Malfunctioned? Just plain sucked?
And since unlike a hand dryer I don't think I'll need this one to get to hot do you think I could get away with spending a little less?

I have a Gold N Hot 1875watt Dryer. It cost me roughly $35 off Ebay, and havent had any problems, brought it last summer. It was like new, didnt look like the owner even touched it.

It has an on/off switch
Cool - Low - Medium - High setting

I like it a whole hemp, because u are able to make it compact/close it, and travel with it, lol, which I did when I went to school.

I have the big pink one from Sallys, by Ion. To me it gets really hot but I dont like the construction of the hood. It has two handles/locks/latches on the side you open it with and once in the center front of the hood you use to close it. Mine always catch and I have to struggle to get it closed. It may be my fault because I had problems opening it and may have broken the mechanism in the beginning. Sallys has a good return policy. Try it and if you dont like it save your receipt and packaging and return it.
I am trying to find the Vidal Sassoon VS291 ion soft bonnet for a decent price.

The only hood dryer I've ever owned is a Hamilton Beach Scovill Salon Hair Dryer - model #494 (may not make anymore, I think it's at least 20 year old!) that my cousin gave me years ago. The reason I think its DA BOMB is that it has a "cool" setting (also has "warm" "medium" and "hot"). I have virtually eliminated heat of any kind by drying my rollersets on the cool setting. If I'm in a hurry, I use some heat. Here are my drying times to give you an idea of the VALUE of that cool setting if you're trying to eliminate heat and still have bouncy, swinging hair. My rollerset drying times are:

airdry = 7 hours
cool = 3.5 hours
warm = 2 hours
medium = 1.5
hot = 1 hour

You see how no need for heat if I plan my wash days to accomodate the cool setting? I use cool 90% of the time and use heat settings whenever I'm in a hurry.

In conclusion, I strongly suggest a dryer with a cool setting . . .

DON'T GET THAT IONIC. It is loud and weak and burned a fuse in my dorm room which I thought could handle everything. If anything get a Gold n Hot if they have one. Whatever brand you get look for one that has holes all over the inside of the dome. It it doesn't have them then it will take forever to dry your hair.

so Gold n hot is a good brand? I was under the impression for so long that it wasnt liked by some of the ladies here? now I am confused.
