hey everybody,

today i was bored as i don't know what. so usually when i'm bored i do something with my hair. today i decided to just wash and deep condition my hair. then i let it air dry. then i parted it and put it in two ponytails and i took out my curling iron. now my question is what do you ladies think is the best product to use as a protectant when curling or straightening with an iron???? i remember when i went to a salon a looooong time ago and they curled my hair the lady used hair spray. i know some ladies use grease...i used thermasilk hair spray today and it came out nice, but i'm no expert at all when it comes to curling/straightening irons:( and i would like to know if there is something better.....so please let me know what your opinion is,

thanks everybody,

nay:)

I use to press my natural hair with hairspray in the summertime to keep it from returning to curly ...after awhile it dried my hair out pretty bad. I'm going to try Sebastian laminates smoothing gel that I got on sale yesterday. I think it's going to work pretty well, it goes on very smooth and light, i just can't bring myself to bring out the heat right now though because its so hot outside.

Nay007,

The Thermasilk is probably a winner. Are you talking about their spray leave-in? I also have a product by Mizani called ThermaStrength Serum. It's a very lite cream and is a good heat protectant.

hey supergirl,

no i was talking about their regular hairspray. it really did a good job but i don't really know and i wanted some expertise advice from people who use or used to use

curling and straightening irons on a regular basis. i don't think that the hairspray is good for the hair...and drying as comfortablynumb already mentioned. but since i only do this once in ten years, maybe i can get away with it

,

nay.

Sorry,

thought you meant the leave-in. I have been eyeing the Thermasilk spray leave-in for a while. I bet it is a wonderful heat protectant.

I'm still using New Image Damage Free Thermal Active Conditioning Styler (Heat Protectant). Once I run out of that, I guess I'll have to start searching for something else (since I only purchased one bottle).
