Bent Ends??

What does it mean when your ends are bent? Is it because I need a trim, more protein or more moisture? I'm 18 weeks post relaxer and they are happening more often. I'm using Shea Butter cream sealed with castor oil grease. Please advise.....

IMO, if your ends are bent, it's time for a trim.

not sure about whether that's a need for more protein or moisture tho...

Well in my experience, the very very tippy ends of some of my strands are bent about 90 degrees. When I run my finger down the shaft of my hair strand, it breaks right off. So it's either split ends or just plain 'ol damaged hair probably due to heat. I do have alot of tiny pieces of hair on my shoulders when I comb. I'm moisturizing more, trying to learn to live without heat, and using less manipulation. I also trim more often than usual.

I saved this chart from Kinikakes fotki awhile ago so I would know what hair to cut when I get ready to dust/trim(hope she doesn't mind). Anyway I think that you have split ends. I think the "Right Angle" is what you are describing. The only way to get rid of this is to trim/dust. HTH

Yes all these ends are split/damaged ends and should be cut. :)

You are so welcome but we really have to thank Kinikakes because I saved it from her informative fotki ;)

Whoa! I'd have to cut most of my hair off because I usually sent bent ends on my shed hair (the deep one and the 90 degree angle one). Its not on all of it but I kept being puzzled by the hair having that angle and its not on the end, its in the middle or 3/4's of the way down the strand. I'm confused.
